The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

Greenland!!!
Trump visits…“They lied!!!”

In a rare moment of self-doubt and introspection, Trump begins to have second thoughts.

NAAAAHHHHHHH. Just kidding!

“My policies will never change. Except when they do.”

I’m disappointed. I thought he would claim the markets would turn around

…in two weeks

Just to point out the obvious:

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, the president said, “TO THE MANY INVESTORS COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES AND INVESTING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY, MY POLICIES WILL NEVER CHANGE. THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO GET RICH, RICHER THAN EVER BEFORE!!!”

This is like the crash of 2008/9: wealthy institutional investors snapped up large numbers of the homes that were lost by people of modest means.

The vast majority of the recovery inured to the benefit of the wealthiest Americans.

IOW: a redistribution of wealth – straight upward. They really aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.

I know he’s also begging the wealthy to help the market find its floor so he doesn’t look like he’s handling this worse than he handled COVID, but he’s certainly selling it as the ultimate perverse incentive.

First, last, and always … a fucking predator.

Is there a way to quantify the magnitude of the Dunning-Kruger effect in a person?

I can see this:

Aide: Mr. President, your Dunning-Kruger test results are back.
Trump: How’d I do?
Aide: You scored a 100.
Trump: Perfect score! I knew I would get the most perfect score!
Aide: Actually Mr. President, the scoring scale is only supposed to go to 25, and like in golf, a lower score is better. Your reaction is actually an example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Trump: Perfect score!

I fear a worse plan. Crash the economy and buy up all the basics of life (and why buy foreclosed houses when you can buy mortgage companies?) and turn the entire country into a ‘company town’.

Well the Dow Jones went from over 42,000 to under 39,000 in a few days due to Trump’s tariffs. A lot of people’s retirement goals will be affected by this.

Fuck everyone who voted for this dangerous moron.

I mentioned in the P&E thread that it was 43,900 the day I moved my T. Rowe Price Fund into the Money Market Fund. So down 4,900 since the beginning of March.

Just dipped into the 38’s.

On it’s way to the 37’s.

We are now back to where the Dow was over a year ago.

I’m sure it is not your intent, but please realize that your repeated “bragging” on this does little other than increase the stress experienced by those of us who were less insightful.

Sorry. I’m very upset and worried, and too old to start over.

Like I said - I assumed you did not realize the added stress that could result from hearing of other persons’ wise moves. We are eating dinner with a couple tonight, and are already girding ourselves for hearing the guy crow over having made moves similar to yours.

I’m PRETTY confident my investments will eventually climb back. And I’m well diversified and not overly in tech. And I realize the challenges of timing the market. Just so often in retrospect it is frustrating to think how much easier it would be to climb back out if the initial drop had not been as abrupt/deep.

As mentioned by @wguy123 we may end up below 38k today. Its currently at 38,423.

I’m glad I have a long way to retirement, but a lot of people age 50+ are probably really sweating.

I have been wrong about Trump every step of the way, and this is no different.

I honestly thought that once Trump started causing pain and suffering for corporations and the rich, that moderate voters and the republican party would turn on him. But I was wrong again. Trump truly is made of teflon. I thought it was just his MAGA cult that was beyond moral and intellectual salvation. I really think the vast majority of his 77 million voters are beyond salvation. Not even when Trump causes massive harm to the rich and powerful, and not even when he causes massive harm to retirees does he face consequences.

I could honestly see tens of millions of ‘moderate’ republicans eating dog food in 3 years and voting for Trump for a 3rd term because they ‘didn’t like the way Kamala laughed’

TRUMP Dog Food!! It’s MAGA-licious!

They donned [NPI] diapers in support of the melon felon:

Would dog food really be a stretch (and, if not, maybe the diapers along with the dog food – better safe than sorry)?

Soylent Orange?

Let’s not forget just how compassionate this administration is.

HANK TOUGH!

I guess I should be careful with sarcasm in this fucked up shadow universe:

…because this is exactly the kind of logic employed. Losotho for example has been hit with a 50% tariff.
