The “I love me” parade (4 miles from the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, to the White House in Washington, DC. hasn’t been ruled out yet. This alone should canx it.
Bowser is the Mayor of Washington.
But, hey, let’s not worry about that so much. What about having fifty pavilions open for an entire year? (Same link)
Yeah, that’s not going to happen; at least not in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
No need to quote Paul’s parrotting of Cruz. Honestly, the only thing I want to hear from any republican in congress is “I resign”. I certainly don’t want to hear this dissembling in support of an actual criminal.
I don’t think Trump has mentioned the “Canada should be our great 51st state” once since Carney took over. Either someone managed to convince him that he’s handing the Liberals victory when they were all but doomed before, or this whole thing was about Justin Trudeau making kissy faces at his alleged wife.
At the risk of a hijack, I think Carney scares Trump. You don’t get to be the governor of the Bank of Canada, much less the Bank of England, without a detailed knowledge of economics. Carney has been both. Trump? Well, a few failed casinos, a failed university, a failed steak company, and nothing like Carney’s experience with economics. Trump perceived Trudeau as weak and uneducated, thus worthy of bullying, but I think he’s afraid of trying to bully Carney. Who knows, Carney might send Chrystia Freeland back into trade talks. Trump would hate that; in the last round of talks, it was plain that she scared him.
Back to military parades, I seem to recall that the reason that he couldn’t have one in Washington in his first term was because Washington streets couldn’t support the weight of tanks, missile carriers, and so on. Such things would ruin the street to the point where it would require repaving. So, he had flypasts of aircraft from the military branches.
He’s “guaranteeing” Dow 50,000 (what economist talks about the Dow? It’s a useless index)
He’s “guaranteeing” no recession
“There’s not going to be any inflation,”
He’s “guaranteeing” Dow 50,000
Positive or negative? He’s “guaranteeing” no recession
So, a depression it is then. “There’s not going to be any inflation,”
Is hyper-inflation really inflation?
Your post made me wonder if much of anything/anyone really “scares” Trump. I think he has such an extreme combination of stupidity and ego that he really thinks he can bluster through just about anything. He is also a coward and a bully. I’m not sure bullies are “afraid” of more capable potential opponents as much as they simply view them as impediments to be avoided as they seek weaker victims.
And, if anything turns out differently that he had wanted, well, he will be certain that it wasn’t his fault and that he was treated unfairly.
If anything, Carney DOES potentially point out how readily Trump backs down from any sign of strength and competence. Makes you wonder why more such folk do not readily appear?
I see it as a reflection of what we see on this board.
Otherwise intelligent posters who do acknowledge Trump isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed somehow, mystifyingly, give him credit for having some sort of ‘plan’. Maybe not 5D chess but still at least 2D chess.
Even after all this time, it is unfathomable to them that a man almost purely driven by id can achieve high office and be in position to do such things. And yet, here we are.
Many people expect some “there” to actually be there. But nope. It’s idiots and sycophants almost all the way down.
On another forum I called it “romantic cynicism”. There’s a lot of people who are perfectly willing to call Trump and other powerful people evil or corrupt, but just can’t bring themselves to call them stupid. I think it just offends their sense of how the world works that the people in power can be such utter fools, and they really want to believe that we are all being screwed over by evil masterminds. Instead of evil idiots.
I think the same is true of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum. At the very least, he respects her, and you know that’s not easy for him. Notice that there are no new tariffs being levelled on Mexico.
