The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

Hey, if Hannibal Lecter vouches for the guy, he can’t be all bad, right?

The first certainly, it goes back the the pre-Civil War era and lasted at least as long as my childhood when I first heard it. I don’t know if the specific people in office have outright said that but I’ve certainly heard rhetoric over the years from the Right about how good slavery was for black people and that they should be grateful.

And yeah; it’s certainly the sort of thing they’d say.

Even worse, “we will let their public sparring continue.” They could make them behave but whatever. Of course, Trump loves it when his minions battle so I guess he’s all in even though it makes his administration look ridiculous.

“They both work. They both work beautifully.” I feel so sorry for the world leaders who are trying to figure out how to deal with this. What do you do when the most powerful man on earth is an insane idiot? It’s planet-wide madness.

Tonight on THE PRESIDENT’S BRAIN IS MISSING*:

Mad King Donald was supposed to give “dinner remarks” at the National Republican Comgressional Committee’s annual gala. Instead he went on a 2-hour unscripted ramble in which he frequently slurred his words and lost his train of thought, and held forth on such topics of relevance to House members’ reelection campaigns as;

  • Nicknames for Joe Biden (see above)
  • States’ rights are bad, actually
  • How he singlehandedly saved the steel industry
  • The 2020 election and how he’s proud of it
  • How “they” don’t respect “any of the people there”
  • Expensive parrots
  • Windmills
  • Making prescription drugs more expensive
  • The width of a Democratic senator’s neck
  • People kissing his ass
  • “Tren de Iraqwa”
  • How he’s ripping everybody off
  • And, of course, how the economy is better than ever because of tariffs

I don’t know how anyone who’s being honest with themselves can listen to him and not acknowledge that he’s deep in the throes of dementia. He’s saying things out loud that he knew better than to say ten years ago, he’s contradicting himself from day to day, he’s undermining his own agenda and making himself more and more unpopular every passing day by refusing to listen to anyone about an economic crisis of his own making that has literally caused him to personally lose half a billion dollars in net worth over the last week.

I’m cautiously optimistic in that there are now several Republican senators willing to openly say that he’s actively hurting the country (welcome to the resistance, (checks notes) Chuck Grassley? Huh. Wasn’t expecting that one), so maybe the point of no return will come sooner than later.

*apologies to the late Troy McClure for snowcloning the name of a movie you might remember him from

I thought of that too! At first. Then I gagged on the fact that the president is making 5th grade school taunts (again), and laughed that he’s mocking anyone’s appearance.

Kind of looks like their own version of WH Correspondence dinner, without all the humor and ribbing subversive criticism of der fuehrer.

Until fairly recently, whenever his oily visage popped up, I’d think “obnoxious and dishonest, but definitely cunning”. Folks here have hinted at senility and I kind of dismissed it, mostly because I’ve never seen him being “normal”. His whole public persona has been such a clown show that I couldn’t really tell the difference. Now it’s becoming clearer, although it should have been evident long before his inauguration. I honestly can’t tell if sycophants are still afraid of him, or dastardly minions are using him.

What the hell is that new thing on his head?! It looks like it was kept in some square container and then dumped there.

Again I say I feel so sorry for world leaders right now.

That’s a good term.

The other thing which has annoyed me (and isn’t the same phenomenon, but related) is when they have experts on news shows sanewashing trump.

I don’t think they are necessarily that naive. I think it’s a “when all you have is a hammer” issue; they are used to having to break things down and go into the complex machinations; it’s what they enjoy doing.

And also, if they are booked in for a 5 minute slot, it would be bad form to just sit down, take a sip of water, say “Trump’s fuckdumb” and walk out.

So we get all this crap about “short and long term plans” and it’s all part of a “cunning negotiation strategy” etc

Yeah - that is what I predicted in one of these threads. I have done some work with the MSPB. Be certain that “prompt” is not a term that has EVER been associated with MSPB action. Meanwhile, all the fired workers remain on paid admin leave! Now THAT’s efficiency for you!

Also a short story by John Scalzi, written during the Bush II years, when we thought we knew what a brainless president looked like.

Or from his raping history.

And he would argue (rightfully! for a change) that when introduced, mandatory seat belts increased the number of drivers being hospitalized after having an accident. At the expense of people being buried or cremated after having an accident, but that is an irrelevant nitpick in the great picture, right? It has also been suggested that although seat belt usage reduces the probability of death in any given accident, mandatory seat belt laws have little or no effect on the overall number of traffic fatalities because seat belt usage also disincentivizes safe driving behaviors, thereby increasing the total number of accidents. This idea, known as compensating-behavior theory, is completely wrong and not supported by evidence at all, so he (or Peter Navarro Ron Vara) would of course promote it.

Maybe he believes in the five-second rule?

Shit, that was good! I didn’t see it coming (no pun intended)!

Tren de irakwa…
I have not heard of it. Is it a person? a place? the context seems to not make sense (even less than usual…)

He’s referring to/terribly mispronouncing Tren de Aragua, an organized crime ring based in Venezuela and the latest boogeyman of the anti-immigrant right, similar to MS-13 before.

Thanks! make sense (sort of…)

Just trying to gin up more woo over the investigation into the incredibly shocking (and of course democracy-threatening) cover-up of Biden’s criminally horrifying mental decline.

At least reassuring - in this thorough, comprehensive (exhausting!) article - that:

Leaving no stone unturned - this mook’s impressed.

Has Mr. Watter’s crack team of Obama Birth Certificate investigators returned from Hawaii yet? Perhaps they met mysterious uncertain deaths like Trump Team One?

I hear they got seduced by the good weather and island lifestyle and were last seen dozing under palm trees, surrounded by weed-related debris, and buried under a Mauna Loa of beer cans. Blissfully happy… :beach_with_umbrella: :desert_island: :man_surfing:t4:
