It will still suck no matter what, and maybe they’ll actually pull off more than I think, but I have hope that their shenanigans won’t lead to anything truly catastrophic for the country (in the long term at least).
As Keynes noted, in the long term we’re all dead. Something a bit sooner would be much appreciated.
By “long term”, I mean too long past the end of this 4 year term. As in, things become saner by the end of my lifetime and my kids aren’t living in some kind of dystopian nightmare.

I was mildly surprised to see that Pete Hegseth (who I have never heard of before) actually served in the military.
I’m starting to get the feeling a number of prominent “trumplicans”, shall we say, were in the military; they didn’t actually serve. Well, they served themselves.
I think he did, he saw some war action even.
But it’s true about serving himself because years ago he ran a veterans PAC that reportedly spent most of its money on throwing parties for friends (which believe it or not was legal). So clearly he’s going to fit right in to Trump’s camp
