Yes,
In Before: Donald Trump has accused the Catholic church of voter fraud and allowing non-citizens to vote for Pope.
I’m curious if Trump’s “condolence” tweet will begin “The Pope didn’t like me” or “The Pope said mean things about me.” Because you know it will be all about him.
US Vice-President JD Vance says he has just learned of the passing of Pope Francis.
He adds: “My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him.”
Well, as a long-lapsed Catholic who am I to challenge a Hillbilly who changed from Atheist to Roman Catholic before he ran for Senate. How fucking pious. I had to do communion, learn stuff about the Bible and reach my confirmation, yet I reckon he did the quick mail-in Roman Catholic joining thing.
And while Hindu’s, Buddhists, Atheists, Shinto’s, Lutherans, Quakers, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, any Orthodox and Jews of all kinds can send their thoughts and prayers, he was not the leader of the “Christian Church” - he was the leader of the “Roman Catholic Church” and you are an asshole, JD.
Yeah, JD is risking the loss of his (loony) Protestant Christian card for calling Catholics Christians.
I said something yesterday about how he said he was “having been influenced by Catholic social teaching” and someone said he’d been an Atheist before running for Senate.
I agree with something in The Constitution about separation between Church and State and I can understand how that’s more an aim than an actual factual thing. So long as it doesn’t get involved with “You believe in the wrong God” I can deal with presidents (like Carter - a Baptist) who went to church and we’ve seen how Lafayette Park was tear gassed and ridden over by the Cavalry so Trump could hold a bible so I am a practising Cynic of the Bitter Sect.
Yet if you are a supposed Statesman, get it right. Keir Starmer just released something nice and long.
Fat ass must be golfing. One of the DOGE boys can use some AI to craft trump’s poignant message, and like you said, end it with something about himself.
I’ll let chatGPT do it:
Statement from President Donald J. Trump
Happy (Belated) Easter to all the wonderful people of our great country — truly the greatest country in the world, believe me. I hope you all had a beautiful time with family, friends, and lots of chocolate. I know I did!
We also take a moment to recognize the passing of Pope Francis. A very significant figure — people are saying very important things. He meant a lot to many people, around the world. Very spiritual, very powerful in his own way. We honor that.
Meanwhile, down here at Mar-a-Lago — absolutely incredible weather. Sunny, 82 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. People are saying it’s the best it’s ever been. The golf course looks beautiful. I expect to have my greatest ever score after doing the whole 18. Big things happening!
God Bless America
It was some time ago, yet the Scots and English seemed to have some debate over the difference. Coincidentally related to the Pope. Henry VIII destroyed a lot of monasteries, probably blaming the Pope on his bad golfing.
For me, if I yearn for some churching there’s an Anglican across the street and at least at Christmas they weren’t pontificating (pun intended) against the Pope or Catholics.
I cannot think of any explanation other than to think even less of a large portion of my fellow citizens.
I wonder how they choose/assess their health care providers or tradesmen…
There should be a Fat Ass Golfing clock in Times Square that tracks the cost to taxpayers every time that shithead waddles onto the links.
Whenever I wonder about Trump supporters, I remember an exchange I overheard between two Walmart employees, early in Trump’s first term.
First employee: Name one bad thing Trump has ever done.
Second employee: He made fun of a disabled guy.
First employee, with some confusion: Who doesn’t?
That’s really all you need to know. There are a great many of our fellow Americans who regard Trump’s level of classless, mocking cruelty as perfectly ordinary behavior, and can’t understand why “the libs” would be upset about it.
This one shows how much time he’s spent golfing in office.
When this one was live, it showed how much his golfing cost the taxpayer.
Paper bag test, mostly. In the case of doctors, stereotypes (Asian immigrants) are sometimes ok.
Pete Hegseth strikes again. Poor Trump deserves better!
“It’s been a month of total chaos at the Pentagon. From leaks of sensitive operational plans to mass firings, the dysfunction is now a major distraction for the president – who deserves better from his senior leadership”

To be entirely fair, many non-Catholic Christians do have a level of respect the Pope: the Orthodox Churches, for example, view the Pope as the head of the “Western Church,” and the Bishop of Rome, but not above their own bishops and leaders. Even if a particular Christian doesn’t view the Pope as the head of their denomination, they may still consider him to be a good and religious man.
OTOH, many Evangelicals may not even believe that Catholics are Christians, so they may not have that same sort of respect.
(Vance is still an asshole, but as a lapsed Catholic myself, who is now nominally Methodist, I have no issue with that particular statement.)
That site says he hasn’t golfed since the 13th. Wasn’t that around when said his last amazing tournament win would be his last? Somehow he survived the bruising handshake Macron got him with.
President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform: “Rest in Peace Pope Francis! May God Bless him and all who loved him!”
Lame. Esp. compared to Biden and Obama who likely either spoke out loud or released some kind of press release, rather than tiny finger a social post.
Yeah, “Christians” is about as good as you can get and better than “all who loved him”.
My Irish Catholic Mother married a Norwegian Lutheran and while he only attended church (Mom’s RC church) twice a year he likely at least respected the Pope.
It could be like Rimmer in Red Dwarf. They played a game called “Better Than Life”, which used brain scanning technology to determine your deep-seated desires, to tailor the game to you personally.
Except that, deep down, Rimmer had a deep loathing for himself, so the game kept torturing him endlessly.
I remember a lot of people defending that by saying, “Oh, that’s just Trump’s standard “I’m a r****d” bit.”
“You get that that’s worse, right? Right?”
As it’s been pointed out–that’s a feature, not a bug.
I remember videos of Trump supporters right after his first election going around yelling at “foreign”-looking people to get out of the country and/or to speak English. It was liberating for many to be able to be openly bigoted.
Twitler Youth lieutenant Stephen Miller says Jan. 6 defendants didn’t receive due process.
“If you were an American falsely accused of wrongdoing on January 6th it wasn’t merely difficult to get “due process,” it was impossible. The entire system was rigged against you. All of it. Those persecuted Americans could only dream of the “due process” afforded illegal aliens,” Stephen Miller posted to X.
For crissakes:
