Going to take a stab at this…
Modern American Christianity, especially the Protestant variants, have moved away from ethics and is completely about faith. You no longer have to even consider acting like a Christian if all you do is believe, and God does not demand ethics from us because of his Unending Love.
The last was a genuine sermon I heard at Max Lucado’s church. Oh, he has the typical whitey-righty positions about same-sex marriage, etc, but his general message is that actions do not matter, only faith does. God does not judge by your actions but by the depths of your faith. Love and belief in Jesus is all.
Compare this Megachurch philosophy with Jonathan Edwards’ Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, which states the exact opposite of what is being taught today:

This is a message completely foreign to today’s mainstream Protestant who is taught that God doesn’t damn us for our faults, he loves us despite of them. And if God loves us despite of our actions, why moderate those actions to be Godly? God doesn’t care!
And so we have descended from a civilization of personal responsibility (for one’s life, one’s soul, etc), to a civilization of moral relativism.
And it’s the Christan church’s fault, especially those mega churches with their rock concerts and bland, easily-ignorable faith-based messaging.

Trump said he talked to one of our enemies (he can’t tell you which one) and he told Trump that they have nothing like it, nothing that can even come close to it, that they can’t even start to even contemplate building the technology that Trump and Silicon Valley have. That the US is so smart to build this.
