The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

Well, when I start collecting SS, I will not be working anymore. I’ll have the investments of course.

But considering Trumps bouncing ball with the economy (and every other thing) I’m an not able to estimate even conservative investments. I suspect everything may just tank (with Trump and his buddies shorting the markets of course)

And there I was with no cruise missile handy.

I was pointing out that it wasn’t very helpful.

I can’t find current info, but 4 years ago to be in the top 0.1% you would be making over $3.3M. I assume with inflation that’s a lot more today.

But let’s just say $3.3M for the sake of argument. The statement that quoted says that if you make less than $17,000 a year, you lose more than $1,000 a year. If you make between $17,000-$51,000 a year, you will lose around $700 a year. And if you make over $3.3M a year, you’ll get nearly $390,000 a year.

But if you make between $51,000-$3.3M a year (being conservative, the gap is probably larger than that), who knows? At what point do you start to benefit? By only mentioning how the top 0.01% will fare, you are implying that everyone below that will be worse off and that’s obviously not true.

That’s what I was pointing out. It seems like a really arbitrary set of statistics to give out to make a point.

If you just wanted to make the general point that it is the opposite of a progressive tax system (which seems inherently unfair, I won’t argue against that), the detail that was given out seems unnecessary.

It was just a weird quote.

Interestingly this may be a bit more than even some right wingers can stomach.

Checking out the coverage on Fox news (hidden down near the bottom of the page where no one will see it, along with a story about Trump’s bad poll numbers). I looked at the comments section and found that while there are some defenders, the comments are breaking something like 90/10 in favor of it being obvious corruption.

The big question is, will they make the mental leap from “this is corruption” to “Trump is corrupt!”? Some of those who are aware of it may well do so, but it’s not going to move any needles unless it makes a difference in how they vote for their legislative representatives - who are currently engaging in a giveaway of gigantic proportions.

Did they make any sense?

I think I saw a clip of Karoline Leavitt explaining there’s no conflict-of-interest here because Trump is doing this as a “private citizen” and it’s not hosted/sponsored at/by the White House.

Nah, it only seems unnecessary, because the author of the piece decided, for reasons of his own, to omit so much of the scale between $51K and $3.3M. The three examples given cite such outrageous injustices being committed that they’ll predictably provoke indignation. And opportunities for indignation are sexy (or at least spicy).

You make a very good point.

“Wolf!” cried the boy.

Dear God, was there no one in the press corps with the cojones to call Ms Leavitt out to her face and point out that office of the President is a 24/7? That the America-hating fuckstick will NEVER be a “private citizen” again until 01/20/2029 : 12:01 PM, EST.*

*Barring impeachment, conviction, removal, and a pony (hey, as long I’m wishing, I might as well get a taste, right?), or an untimely demise.

At this point in the Second Felonial Era, his demise at any time will be timely.

On Bluesky it was pointed out that this meant that it was not an “official act” and thus he could (via the Supreme Court ruling from last year) be prosecuted for acts associated with the dinner.

(Of course, any Trump lawyer could simply claim that Leavitt misspoke and it was certainly an official act…)

He’s Schrödinger’s president!

Does that mean we get to stick him in a box with some nuclear material and a bottle of cyanide?

More tariffs announced, this time on the EU and Apple. I wonder how many of his buddies were given prior notice and sold off their market shares in anticipation of a dip.

His latest ambush of a visiting dignitary was disgusting, but not unexpected. What an asshole.

You Tease!

Put a Diet Coke label on it and there is no uncertainty principle anymore.

We’re discussing Trump. He’s never had any principles.
