The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

Seen the parade tonight and here’s some thoughts and questions:

  1. seems there was not many persons in the crowd, mostly in parks around the street.
  2. the soldiers were marching…well in a manner that seemed weird: no weapons, no close order (ranks and files were not straight), no order of height, weird and not in rhythm pace. Is it really that enlisted soldiers don’t do marching?
  3. the soldiers in vehicles were waving at the crowd. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: is it normal? here they have more gravitas.
  4. The 47th said something in the line of " our soldiers are always victorious and we will win this time" Is it correct (I fear an error of translation) and was he aware that some of the wars presented were not exactly wins? and others were not exactly only American wins? what is this time he’s talking about? LA?Iran?

The felon found a catch-all law to justify his strong-arm tactics.

The felon wants to ban more foreigners.

I enjoyed that bit about reliable identity documents. By the way, America, how’s that REAL ID thing working so far?

But, hey, not to worry! Want to get back on the felon’s dance card? That’s super simple. All a country has to do is open a concentration camp for the people he’s kicking out of America. (Same link)

The article includes a list of those 36 countries he wants to add to the band of the banned. I wonder what they all have in common.

The top health official in the United States is a raw milk believer.

Now that I think about it, there is one benefit for him of consuming raw milk. He can sit on the commode for days on end xitting back and forth with his buddy Donnie who is also xitting on the commode.

A real leader, Governor Newsom, has a short and accurate appraisal of the felon.

Finally! At least one Fox News host recognizes what’s going on.

Arrest them and let the Devil sort it out.

Car driven on purpose into crowd at No Kings protest.

I put this here because this is instigated by the rhetoric employed by and the beavior of felon47 and his co-conspirators.*

Another article including that attack along with one in San Francisco.

*I am done with calling them president or whatever title they purport to hold nor shall I call them an administration from this point forward. The fact is the entire mess of them are felon47 and his co-conspirators. They are criminals, one and all.

Why would they? It serves no purpose.

Well, there is a purpose, at least in certain places. If you want to get a large body of people from point A to point B that are within walking distance, putting them in formation and marching them will do it in an orderly manner. Which is the main reason they do it in basic training and the service academies/officer training school. There may be other places they do it as well, perhaps some tech schools.

Moving up and down again

Not in my experience - but even if that’s how you do things, there’s no need to coordinate leg and arm movements or to carry your rifle on your shoulder. That stuff’s just for show.

Well, I think there is legitimately some psychological value in training soldiers to distance themselves from their individuality and subsume themselves into a large group operating in unison, aside from the practical utility in marching a battalion across the Great Saint Bernard Pass to Marengo, or whatever.

It’s just that modern militaries have more effective training methods for achieving this effect, so marching drills have been deprioritized if not entirely abandoned.

I think it’s more that modern militaries focus less on working in unison and more on working as a team, if you know what I mean. Very little combat these days involves working in unison. Take tank warfare: every person in a tank has a different job, as does every tank in a platoon at any given moment, which means that you never have a bunch of people doing the same thing at the same time. You have to train them to work together, not to be the same.

Oddly enough, marching bands are a better analogy for modern militaries than soldiers marching in ranks.

It’s also potentially dangerous; famously, you can cause bridge collapses that way.

Also, I expect that soldiers concentrating on keeping in step are going to have significantly less situational awareness.

Still plenty of formation marching. Primarily at change of command ceremonies. Lots of practice leading up to the event then back to real jobs.

I don’t about the rest of what he said, and I don’t know if this is a translation error (I’m not about to watch his speech to find out). But this may be a right-wing talking point. I had a friend who has since gone full-on MAGA. She once said, “The United States Army has never lost a battle.”

Not even a war, mind you. Never lost even a single battle! I think that she really believes that.

Especially not in Vietnam or Afghanistan.

To no one’s surprise:

Trump admin mocked for claiming parade attendance was ‘250,000 patriots’ despite empty fields

Despite a turnout of only a few thousand, the White House is claiming that 250,000 “patriots” attended the military parade in Washington D.C. on Saturday

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung boasted about the turnout at Saturday’s military parade in Washington D.C claiming a quarter of a million “patriots” were present, despite visual evidence of sparse crowds.

“Amazing. Despite the threat of rain, over 250,000 patriots showed up to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the @USArmy,” Cheung exclaimed on X.

The event, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s birthday and marking the US military’s 250th anniversary, saw unexpectedly low attendance, prompting online ridicule and highlighting its hefty $45 million cost.

Critiques also targeted the event’s production value and expense. “The canned crowd sounds… the sponsors…the crappy mix engineer. Kind of hilarious, in waste of my tax money kind of way,” another Redditor commented sarcastically.

(I’m not on X to find the original WH post)

Well, bonespurs saved the North Vietnamese and Trump wasn’t C-in-C for the Afghan withdrawal and the Deep State generals conspired against him when he was.

The predictably over-the-top Fox coverage was very careful about avoiding sweeping camera shots that would have revealed the sparseness of the crowd, instead staying tight on the soldiers and the small areas of crowd congestion.

It’s what they do.

It’ll be 20 billion people packed shoulder to shoulder in a month.

I’m also hearing about right-wing posts and news reports that it was all the “No Kings” gatherings that were the duds attendance-wise.

It’s actually amazing how much psychological projection is done by Trump and MAGA. It factors into almost everything they say about anything.

(posts/reports referenced in videos online; I’m not looking at primary RW sources but the sources are mentioned)

One thing often observed is that other than among some honor guards and ceremonial units (and even there when compared to some other countries) the US Army’s marching style is highly “casual” to begin with. Literally mostly just walking straight in step, in formation. It’s like “look, for two+ centuries we’ve both crushed fancy, stylish, aristocratic ‘warrior caste’ enemies AND gotten bloodied good by ragtag irregulars, we’re not gonna prove anything by swinging and kicking and stomping like we’re the doggone Rockettes.”

Another is that THIS particular shindig was slapped together in a rush to please 47 and Secretary Hogshead, and it’s not like the elite units are sitting around with nothing better to do. So some of these formations may be a case of they grabbed whoever could be grabbed to do this. The 420th Field Laundry Company is going to be dressed clean and fresh but their members probably last drilled for parade when they graduated training.

The local rag predicted 60, I rode by yesterday and it looked to be easily 3-400. Thousands in Modesto.
