The cabinet isn’t ever going to take action to remove him from office. The current congress certainly isn’t going to. We have to wait until November next year to elect a congress with the fortitude to do the right thing.

As Trump showed when the police tear gassed and expelled people protesting in Lafayette plaza in Washington during his first administration. Trump found what the plans about what was coming from the police and approved by others. Then he commandeered military and other people in his administration to come out with him after the police had cleared the space.
In Lafayette plaza, he got even military guys to come out with him to the church to raise the Bible and sing praises to himself, to get the appearance that he and the military were involved, to show how a “strongman” he is. Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff then, called the move a “mistake” and said that his presence “created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics.” For Trump, it was a move like when he appeared in charity events… where other rich guys gave money and he did not.
Well, it is very underwhelming now to see Trump telling us what a great strongman he is against Iran when the Israelis already got the air superiority for us beforehand.
I wonder if Trump did this as a performative token to Israel and the pro-Israel lobby and is hoping that’s the end of it, both in terms of satisfying the pro-Israel faction and also hoping that Iran ‘gets it’ and doesn’t retaliate by slamming US military personnel in the region. I don’t think Trump wants a war; I think Israel clearly does. At some point, something’s got to give.
The only end-game I see for Israel-Iran is conflict, which necessitates trump’s approval (and later on congress - if they still exist) and perhaps the United Nations (if they still exist).
It has been curious how trump has stayed out of escalating with countries who really will fight back (Russia, Iran, China). It’s not wisdom, diplomacy (both learned after fifth grade). It’s certainly not TR’s “Talk softly yet carry a big stick” as even on the latter point he’s never (TMK) ever said anything like, “You want a carrier group off-shore and 20,000 Marines on your beaches?”
Maybe he just does not understand War. Or the cost of War. You start bunker-busting the fuck out of Iranian mountains, they will deliberately retaliate against USA bases and kill USA troops. Why would Iran not do this? They are a force to be reckoned with.
The UN and EU are dead to us. They don’t factor for shit.
Indeed, we’ve been wanting to shift our focus to Asia, but we can’t because we’re pinned down in a losing effort in Ukraine and we’re in danger of being pinned down in another potential losing effort in the ME.
My first thought was also that his Nobel Peace prize is looking less likely. There is also reporting that Iran may have already moved their enriched uranium to alternative sites. Meanwhile, I listened to his blissfully short speech and my takeaway is that Tulsi Gabbard isn’t long for this Administration. Also he referred to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as”Raising Cain” which made me have to google his actual name.

I disagree. There is something distinctly non-Kissinger (back when the USA had a Sec of Defense) about trump. Threatening people (like contractors - “I’ll sue you in court”) and of course something weird about his consistent-two week warnings.
Yet if he was truly fuck East-NATO (there are two NATO’s now) Greenland would be USA territory and the UN would wag a finger. Denmark might mind a bit - yet who they gonna call on?
To perhaps back off on my prior assertion that he does not know “The cost of war” maybe he does understand. It’s no credit - yet trump 45 & 47 have not nearly been as belligerent as either Obama or Clinton - let alone Cheney/W.
You can say words to the effect of threatening Iran, and even call a fortnight delay before actually doing anything - yet once you put the B-2’s and bunk busters in place and Iran responds like in 20 minutes and American Troops are targeted and die, now you’ve got a war and less of a chance of a resort in Gaza.
I cannot buy into trump playing the “long game”. Actually, what leader/general has ever done so? Eisenhower had to get D-day going not because of Rommel’s wife’s birthday or the weather, but because a shitload of angry Russians were out for revenge after winning at Stalingrad and they wanted at least Germany and Poland.

I am 100% confident a major contributor to Trump’s decision to attack was his dissatisfaction with the fierceness of the military display in the recent parade. He’s been brooding on his unhappiness for days, and that fed into this.
