When I heard TRump’s story about his MIT professor uncle and The Unabomber, I simply said “Yeah, right!”
Stephen Colbert pointed out in last night’s monologue that most of the story was just lies. So did Jordan Kleppner on Th Daily Show, apparently. Trump did have an uncle who was a professor at MIT. That much is true. None of the rest of it was.
Indeed; Trump regularly trots out his uncle in his stories, almost undoubtedly to imply “hey, I have a brilliant professor in my family, and intelligence runs in families, so I’m clearly very intelligent, too.”
trump in talks to have the auto industry bring back steam-powered cars:
“They’ll use clean coal to make the steam, which is great stuff, really terrific, and will bring back so many coal mining jobs”.
trump to luminescent industrial paints industry: bring back radium!
“It was so shiny, such a terrific shade of green. Stayed glowy a lot longer than modern glow-in-the-dark stuff, which sucks”.
You know, I hesitate to bring it up because some people have deep feelings about cola rivalries, but you can right now buy Pepsi Made With Real Sugar. It used to be called Pepsi Throwback, then Pepsi Made with Real Sugar, and now sometime Soda Shop Pepsi.
I prefer Pepsi to Coke, myself, so it’s not a problem. And, of course, if you really want it (and maybe can wait) you can get Mexican Coke or Kosher Coke, both made with sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. There are sores around me that carry this as a standard item. But it’s not available in as large a quantity, or from fountains.
“Sorry, MEXICAN Coke is out of the question, unacceptable, no can do! It has to be made in America with American sugar cane planted and harvested by American White people! Or Black people. But no illegal Brown people.”
One of the things that most astonishes me about Trump is how he has managed to take a party that was once dedicated to laissez-faire capitalism, and get that party to go all in on high tariffs, and on the government determining what products individual corporations should and should not manufacture.
Some Americans will tell you that México is not in America but in “North America”, there is no continent called “America”.
Unless they want to invoke the Monroe Doctrine…
This is why I edited my post from “Trumpy Americans” to “Some Americans”, the average MAGAt would react like that and also doesn’t have a chance in hell of knowing what the Monroe Doctrine is.
