Horatius:
Record a video, with some kind of date proof, that says what you’re planning to do, and then release it after you quit or get fired.
If I were on the hiring committee, I’d find this behaviour at best indicative of a prankster, at worst indicative of dishonesty.
Why couldn’t he just leave it off of his c.v. altogether? Or, if you’re applying anywhere with a conscience, you could list “anti-fascist saboteur (embedded in ICE).”
And people wonder why no one is taking active measures against Trump and his bullshit. At some point, you’ll have to acknowledge that the old rules are the old rules .
In ten years, if anyone ever did throw sand into ICE’s gears like this, they will be hailed as heroes, akin to those who resisted the Nazis in Europe.
The Simple Sabotage Field Manual offered tips on how to slash tires, break tools, mishandle paperwork, and other ways to quietly disrupt the occupation of Europe during WWII.
Est. reading time: 4 minutes
I see nothing wrong with sabotaging the enemy, as I said in ¶2. What I thought was underhanded was the video. If you’re trying to get a job as a former ICE agent, I’d think short paragraph of your accomplishments in sabotaging the organization from within would be better than releasing a video.
But the question was:
Post WWII, every German you ever met insisted they were never a Nazi. How could you prove that? “Oh, look, here’s a list I just made up of stuff I did…” Okay, fine, can you show us that any of that actually happened? Or is it just bullshit? Or that it was intentional, and not just you actually being an incompetent fascist?
With some kind of date-stamped proof of your intentions, proving the sabotage was intentional becomes much easier.
I guess, but does that really help with a CV?
All you’ve proven is that you will go to great lengths to troll your employer. Perhaps done with noble intentions. Or perhaps you thought far enough ahead to set that up as an excuse and you’re the type to do that to anybody and lie about your motivations. Regardless of the nobility of your intentions, all you’ve actually proven to any third parties is you are capable of lying to your co-workers and employers.
There’s no good way to determine which you are to some random hiring person.
If you are a True Believer and want to screw with ICE, do it regardless of consequences. It is history and our posterity who judge if we are heroes or not (and even then, they can and do change their minds), not us in the present.
ETA: This is some fucked up adult version of a Tik-Tok challenge. Those kids pulling stupid pranks think they’ll end up getting their 15 minutes of internet glory. Most of the time they are wrong. Notoriety as motivation for such a stunt is stupid.
The Orange Menace just released a memo seeking to shield federal employees from disciplinary action for engaging other employees in religious talk and “trying to convince the other employee that their religion is correct”.
It also protects their right to display crosses, crucifixes, mezuzahs, and even aggressive religious posters at work.

I retired too soon. I’d have loved to display something like this.
One would hope that we as a society could distinguish between a kid putting buckets over random people’s heads from someone trying to disrupt an illegal paramilitary force that is actively destroying people’s rights.
There are lots of dumb people out there.
I’ll stand by my assertion.
Pulling this kind of stunt for the recognition is just plain dumb. If somebody does this kind of thing with the idea they are fighting for a just cause, they need to do so with the realization they may not personally benefit in any way, even in recognition, and may actually struggle personally or financially as a result.
Remember Rosa Parks? She was lauded as a hero in her own lifetime. But she and her husband lost their jobs and her family ended up struggling financially for years. That does not mean her efforts weren’t ultimately worthwhile. Just that the idea that even recognized heroes, much less ones that might not be recognized in their lifetimes, don’t face hardships is incredibly naive.
There’s never an actual “militant atheist” around when you need one.
Interesting conundrum. I would say that since 99.999999….% of humans are forgotten forever, and not longer than a couple of generations past their lifetimes, a bet on relative immortality is worth it. For a noble cause, of course. We don’t want more despots and mass murderers. We already have plenty of those.

You are invoking the spirit of Mario Savio, 1964, Berkeley CA:
There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part! You can’t even passively take part! And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels … upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop!

From your link, with my bolding :
The memo also said one or more employees should be allowed to engage in individual or communal religious expressions and that employees can engage in conversations on religious topics “including attempting to persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views, provided that such efforts are not harassing in nature.”
And exactly how is ganging up on a co-worker not harassing?
Also from your link, still my bolding :
Federal workers can also “encourage their coworkers to participate in religious expressions of faith, such as prayer, to the same extent that they would be permitted to encourage coworkers participate in other personal activities ,” the memo said.
I foresee a clarification memo negating all of those “woke” sexual harassment rules and laws.
And this part peeve me too, besides the whole unconstitutionality of it (and the bolding is again mine):
“During a break, an employee may engage another in polite discussion of why his faith is correct and why the non-adherent should re-think his religious beliefs. However, if the nonadherent requests such attempts to stop, the employee should honor the request ,” the memo added.
Should . Not shall and not will . The word selected was purposefully chosen to make the correct (yeah, I know) action here merely advisory, not mandatory.
The felon may have made a strategic mistake in moving to Florida.
A law central to First Amendment protections in Florida may apply in a federal lawsuit from President Donald Trump against the Wall Street Journal , which came after a report about a birthday letter from Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein .
Anti-SLAPP laws (SLAPP stands for “Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation”) are meant to deter people from filing frivolous lawsuits based on someone’s speech or publication, and Florida is among 38 states that have such laws. In some states and court jurisdictions, it could mean a dismissal and awarding attorney fees to the affected party.
But federal courts have taken different opinions about whether these laws apply in federal court, and Florida’s law is particularly unusual in that it may award attorney fees to the losing party in federal courts, said David Keating, the president for the Institute for Free Speech.
“It’s meant to help people’s First Amendment right to speak,” he said.
The president’s lawsuit comes after the Journal reported July 17 that, among many letters from Epstein’s family and friends in a leather-bound birthday book gifted for his 50th birthday in 2003, one had Trump’s signature. That letter ends with “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret,” the Journal reported.
and
The critical part about anti-SLAPP laws is that they serve as a deterrent from filing substantial suits, since prior to their existence wealthy individuals would bring defamation lawsuits just to “punish” speech rather than win, Nelson said.
“They wanted to drag the publication or the journalist through very expensive, time-consuming litigation as a punishment,” Nelson said.
Looks like the law’s got your number, P01135809.
The felon’s war on education and the free press continues.
The Education Department is launching an investigation into Duke University and Duke Law Journal, the department announced in a news release on Monday, citing reporting that alleges the university was violating the Civil Rights Act.
“Today, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) initiated a directed investigation into Duke University and the Duke Law Journal for allegedly violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI). This investigation is based on recent reporting alleging that Duke University (Duke) discriminates on the bases of race, color, and/or national origin by using these factors to select law journal members,” the department said in a press release.
A spokesperson for Duke University did not immediately offer comment in response to a CNN request. CNN has also reached out to the Duke Law Journal.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also sent a letter to Duke University “outlining shared concerns about the use of race preferences in Duke’s hiring, admissions, and scholarship decisions.”
The Education Department requested that Duke University “review all policies and practices at Duke Health for the illegal use of race preferences, take immediate action to reform all of those that unlawfully take account of race or ethnicity to bestow benefits or advantages, and provide clear and verifiable assurances to the government that Duke’s new policies will be implemented faithfully going forward — including by making all necessary organizational, leadership, and personnel changes to ensure the necessary reforms will be durable.”

The Trump administration has once again reversed a major decision regarding vital climate-based assessments, and many experts are sounding the alarm.
What’s happening?
In June, the Trump administration revealed that it was shutting down the U.S. Global Change Research Program’s website, globalchange.gov , which hosted the congressionally mandated National Climate Assessments as well as other climate research.
This decision removed public access to extensive data on how climate-related issues impact the United States.
The move was criticized by scientists who viewed it as an attempt to hinder the nation’s ability to prepare for the future.
As reported by The Associated Press, NASA then announced on July 3 that “all preexisting reports will be hosted on the NASA website, ensuring continuity of reporting.”
Despite this, the Trump administration appears to have changed its mind regarding the data for a second time.
“The USGCRP met its statutory requirements by presenting its reports to Congress. NASA has no legal obligations to host globalchange.gov ’s data,” NASA press secretary Bethany Stevens wrote in an email.
It sure is interesting what this admnistration wants and manages to keep secret, isn’t it?
Because, of course, ardent witnessers are world famous for desisting from converting the heathens when requested to.
We got AI now. No need to worry.

WASHINGTON — House Republican proposals to name the Kennedy Center after President Donald Trump and its opera house after first lady Melania Trump would violate the law by which the Kennedy Center was created, four sources familiar with the issue told NBC News.
Republicans last week passed an amendment through committee that would rename the opera house after Melania Trump, saying it was a way to recognize her support for and commitment to the arts. The measure, sponsored by GOP Rep. Mike Simpson of Idaho, is now part of key legislation to fund the Interior Department, but it would still need to pass through the full House and the Senate to become law.
The next day, Rep. Bob Onder, R-Mo., introduced the “Make Entertainment Great Again Act” to rename the whole center the “Donald J. Trump Center for Performing Arts.” The House has not yet taken any action on it.
Three former board members for the Kennedy Center told NBC News that the law creating the center prohibited any of the facilities from being renamed, other than the Eisenhower Theater, after the president whose administration first authorized its construction in 1958. The project stalled and was revived under President John F. Kennedy, whose family led an effort to get the center built and named in his honor following his assassination. Two months later, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the legislation making it a living memorial to Kennedy.
According to U.S. code, “After December 2, 1983, no additional memorials or plaques in the nature of memorials shall be designated or installed in the public areas of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.”
Also, why is the GOP going all in with this North Korean style adoration?
Turns out there is a way for Americans to not be paying the tariffs.
Republican Sen. Josh Hawley introduced legislation Monday to provide tariff rebate checks of at least $600 per adult and child to American families, similar to the stimulus checks the government distributed during the Covid pandemic.
Hawley, R-Mo., submitted his legislation after having pledged to do so Friday after President Donald Trump told reporters he would be interested in sending a tariff-related rebate check to Americans.
Yet the fools still don’t understand how tariffs work.
This isn’t creating wealth. It’s taking money from the consumer and then returning that same money to the consumer. And since that involves real people in government service doing some action, it’s going to cost money. The best idea is to not go tariff happy like the felon and, as I said earlier, quit fixing stuff until it’s broken.
The felon can’t win on merit so he goes for libel and, of course, weaponization of the justice system. (The bolding is mine.)
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Monday filed a misconduct complaint against the federal judge who has clashed with President Donald Trump 's administration over deportations to a notorious prison in El Salvador .
Escalating the administration’s conflict with U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg , Attorney General Pam Bondi said on social media that she directed the filing of the complaint against Boasberg “for making improper public comments about Donald Trump and his administration.”
The complaint stems from remarks Boasberg allegedly made in March to Chief Justice John Roberts and other federal judges saying the administration would trigger a constitutional crisis by disregarding federal court rulings, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by The Associated Press.
The comments “have undermined the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary,” the complaint says, adding that the administration has “always complied with all court orders .” Boasberg is among several judges who have questioned whether the administration has complied with their orders.

Get your green Sharpies ready for Iona!
It’s officially hurricane season, and that means keeping a closer eye on the weather this time of year, especially if you live in Hawaii.
Fox Weather on Monday reported that the National Hurricane Center upgraded Iona from a tropical storm after forming Sunday night south of Hawaii to a Category 1 hurricane after strengthening Monday morning.
Iona was initially a tropical depression before reaching the maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, which is what triggered the upgrade to a tropical storm.
Let’s hope the storm weakens before it hits Hawai’i. You know how he feels about states which didn’t support him.
Mexico’s government demands its citizens be released from Alligator Auschwitz.
A Mexican diplomat has issued a rare travel warning urging citizens to avoid Florida, citing the recent arrest and ongoing detention of two Mexican tourists who have yet to receive a fair hearing.
Juan Sabines, Mexico’s consul in Orlando, told Talking Points Memo that visitors “should take extreme precautions or not come to Florida” following the high-profile case of brothers Carlos and Óscar González, both of whom were detained after a routine traffic stop earlier this month.
Traffic Stop Sparks International Incident
Carlos, 26, was pulled over for having tinted windows and was unable to present vehicle registration. Though he held a valid U.S. tourist visa, he was arrested on the spot. His brother Óscar, 30, arrived shortly after to provide documentation and was detained as well, despite being married to a U.S. citizen.
The brothers were transferred to a migrant detention facility known as Alligator Alcatraz, located deep in the Florida Everglades, the Daily Mail reported. Since then, their lawyer has reportedly been denied access, and the two men remain in custody with no clear path to resolution.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Vice President Vance would be a “great nominee” for the Republican Party in 2028 , should he decide to run for the White House.
In an interview on Fox News’s “My View with Lara Trump,” Rubio sidestepped a question about his own presidential ambitions when asked by the president’s daughter-in-law whether his own sights are “set outside the State Department.”
“I think JD Vance would be a great nominee … if he decides he wants to do that,” Rubio said during the interview Saturday.
“I think he’s doing a great job as vice president. He’s a close friend, and I hope he intends to do it,” Rubio added.

President Donald Trump used a compliment toward U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s wife as an opportunity to take a swipe at his British counterpart.
Minutes after Keir and Victoria Starmer arrived at Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, where the two men are scheduled to discuss a range of issues including trade and the war in Gaza, a reporter asked Trump a question about tariffs.
Standing with the Starmers outside the club, he vowed to “take a look at it.”
“We want to make the prime minister happy,” he explained. “We want to make… By the way, your first lady… I would say first lady. She is a respected person all over the United States. I don’t know what he is doing, but she is very respected. As respected as him. I don’t want to say ‘more’—I will get myself in trouble.”
Keir Starmer laughed awkwardly and agreed with Trump, while Victoria Starmer smiled and looked around without saying anything.
“She’s a great woman and very highly respected,” Trump continued, notably not saying the same of Keir Starmer.
Later during their meeting, Trump also managed to insult Starmer’s friend, London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
Asked if he would be visiting London during his state visit, Trump said he would, but added, “I’m not a fan of your mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job, the mayor of London. A nasty person.”
“He’s a friend of mine, actually,” Starmer cut in, drawing laughter.
“I think he’s done a terrible job,” Trump replied.
Don’t you feel safe knowing how well DHS does their duty? (The bolding is mine.)
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested a Jamaican national for allegedly attempting to purchase a firearm illegally while employed as a reserve police officer in Old Orchard Beach.
According to ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Boston, Jon Luke Evans was taken into custody with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) after his firearm purchase attempt raised concerns tied to his immigration status on July 25 in Biddeford.
Federal authorities say Evans legally entered the United States through Miami International Airport on Sept. 24, 2023, under a visa that required his departure by Oct. 1, 2023. He failed to leave as required and has remained in the country unlawfully since.
During the investigation, Evans reportedly claimed he was seeking to purchase the firearm for use in his role with the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.
ICE officials are now questioning how an individual without lawful immigration status was hired by a local police agency and possibly issued a department-issued weapon.
“This case raises serious concerns,” said Patricia H. Hyde, acting field office director for ERO Boston. “We will continue working to ensure that individuals who violate immigration laws and pose potential threats to public safety are held accountable.”
As part of the hiring process, the department submitted his employment documents to DHS through the federal E-Verify system. According to police, DHS confirmed Evans’ eligibility to work, and his Employment Authorization Document showed an expiration date of March 2030.
And now we have the Poopmobile.
