What war in Ukraine? Didn’t the felon end that on January 20, 2025?
What the ever-loving fuck? Can you imagine the response from Republicans had President Obama made such a gaffe?
Not only would I not be surprised, I believe I predicted it. (I’m having issues with the search function, so cannot find it.)
I honestly think it would not matter to them. The felon has gotten them to confuse his, and thus their, values with American values. Rule of law? Get real. Rule by the leader who knows best is the way to do it. Diplomacy? Get real. Have a dispute with a neighbor, attack them and take what you want. Fiscal responsibility? Get real. Spend the government’s money on your pet projects. Education? Get real. An educated populace is a thinking populace and that, more than anything else, is anathema to the dictator. Courts? Get real. If they don’t parrot the dictator, then the aformentioned (afore-inferred?) uneducated populace can be agitated to physically attack them. Rule of law? Depends on what you mean by “law”. If you mean what Americans had been taught until very recently, you mean the laws passed by congress. But that’s not what his, and thus their, meaning is. He, and thus they, mean “what the dictator decrees”.
And there’s a country now with all of these particular values with those definitions. It’s called Russia.
President Donald Trump laid out an aggressive plan for the federal government to take over law enforcement in Washington and teased that the same force might be coming to other cities across the country.
Joined by top administration officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, the president announced the National Guard will be deployed in the nation’s capital and that the local police will be placed under federal control.
&
While ticking off individual cases, Trump noted that his Washington takeover might be brought to cities including Chicago; Baltimore; Los Angeles and Oakland, California.
And what do these places really have in common?
Those Democratic-controlled cities and states, Trump said, have adopted left-leaning policies, such “no cash bail” rules, that he blamed for violent crime.
And not that you should blithely believe the felon, let’s check out Chicago, that den of nefariousness.
Chicago was in the news earlier this summer for a historic drop in crime that Mayor Brandon Johnson, who Trump called out during the press conference, has touted.
“This reduction in hate crimes and of violence generally is a testament to what’s possible when we invest in people and community safety in a holistic way,” Johnson said in a July 18 statement that credited “strategic, constitutional policing” and “jobs for young people, access to mental health care, and housing people can afford.”
We are not at war. Congress has not declared war since 1941. This is blatantly unconstitutional. But the felon does have enemies. In case you’re just horrible at guessing, let me tell you who his enemies are: The American People.
President Donald Trump said his administration is considering reclassifying marijuana as a less dangerous drug.
“We’re looking at reclassification and we’ll make a determination over the next few weeks,” Trump said at news conference August 11.
Though 45 states have legalized the use of marijuana for medicinal or recreational use, the federal government still classifies it as a Schedule I drug.
Schedule I drugs are defined as highly dangerous, addictive and without medical use. Marijuana has belonged to this class of drugs since the Controlled Substances Act was signed in 1970. If reclassified, marijuana would be treated the same as drugs like Tylenol with codeine and anabolic steroids, which can be prescribed by licensed health care providers and dispensed by licensed pharmacies.
Reclassifying marijuana would be the biggest change in marijuana policy the federal government has taken since the drug was first outlawed, but it would not make recreational usage legal under federal law.
And, ever the wordsmith, the felon pronounced this whatever it is.
Trump said the decision is complicated, weighing the benefits of marijuana use for medical reasons against potential societal impacts.
“Some people like it, some people hate it. Some people hate the whole concept of marijuana,” he said.
This tracks. Now we know why he talks the way he does.
John Oliver slammed former Superman Dean Cain over his announcement last week that he plans to join ICE, saying it shows the agency might be in “trouble.”
Discussing the recent raids taking place all over the U.S. on the latest episode of “Last Week Tonight,” Oliver said that ICE seems “more than a little desperate” to hire new agents, pointing to the fact that they have removed age limits and are putting out “gross recruitment ads.” He then turned his attention to Cain, who said last week during an appearance on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” that he “will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP.”
“I’m not saying that ICE isn’t finding people,” he continued. “I’m just saying, when you are reduced to pinning a badge on the 59-year-old star of ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Holidays,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Halloween,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Easter’ and ‘The Dog Who Saved Summer,’ maybe you are in trouble.”
It’s true — though Cain played Superman/Clark Kent in the ’90s ABC series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” he’s more recently taken to the television film space, where he has starred in six “The Dog Who Saved…” movies. As a result, Oliver said that Cain shouldn’t be concerned about covering up on duty to avoid being doxxed.
“On the plus side, no need for that guy to wear a mask because the chances of anyone recognizing him are f****** zero,” he said.
(Reuters) -An influential U.S. medical journal is rejecting a call from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to retract a large Danish study that found that aluminum ingredients in vaccines do not increase health risks for children, the journal’s editor told Reuters.
Kennedy has long promoted doubts about vaccines’ safety and efficacy, and as health secretary has upended the federal government’s process for recommending immunization. A recent media report said he has been considering whether to initiate a review of shots that contain aluminum, which he says are linked to autoimmune diseases and allergies.
The study, which was funded by the Danish government and published in July in the Annals of Internal Medicine, analyzed nationwide registry data for more than 1.2 million children over more than two decades. It did not find evidence that exposure to aluminum in vaccines had caused an increased risk for autoimmune, atopic or allergic, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
The work is by far the best available evidence on the question of the safety of aluminum in vaccines, said Adam Finn, a childhood vaccination expert in the UK and pediatrician at the University of Bristol, who was not involved in the study.
“It’s solid, (a) massive dataset and high-quality data,” he said.
Killer Kennedy had this to say:
Kennedy described the research as “a deceitful propaganda stunt by the pharmaceutical industry,” and said the scientists who authored it had “meticulously designed it not to find harm” in a detailed Aug. 1 opinion piece on TrialSite News, an independent website focused on clinical research. He called on the journal to “immediately retract” the study.
So, yes; the proper answer to KK is “Fuck off and die”.
President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East botched a sitdown with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week.
During the Wednesday meeting, Special Envoy Witkoff mistook Putin’s demand for a “peaceful withdrawal” of Ukrainian forces from Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as a proposed concession from Putin to pull back Russian troops in the regions, according to German tabloid Bild.
“Witkoff doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” an anonymous Ukrainian official told the paper.
After the meeting, Trump said Russia could withdraw from the two regions in exchange for Donetsk, the Wall Street Journalreported.
But in a Thursday phone call between Witkoff, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and European leaders—during which Witkoff appeared “overwhelmed” and “incompetent,” Bild reported—the special envoy said Russia would withdraw from those regions and “freeze the front line.”
This is like some bizarre alternate universe version of The Mouse That Roared. What we have now with America is The Jackass That Brayed.
I’m glad to s hear it, and immediately try to figure out how it enriches El Gordo. My first thought was it’s some kind scheme involving President Bukkake, but I don’t think El Salvador is a large exporter of cannabis. In any event, it’s to serve his own purpose.
Who was the first person on this board to say the felon’s fans would be okay with whatever he does so long as it owns the libs? Checking the various news sites which permit comments on their articles shows that person was absolutely correct. I’ve seen the felon’s fans post support for his martial law stunt ranging from It needs to be done all over the country to It will keep the dems from governing to outright saying Fine with him violating the constitution because it owns the libs.
Martial law in Washington, DC and millions of people are fine with it. Jesus.
What the hell are you smoking? They’re ok even if it violates their rights, at least to some degree. Because (choose all that apply) it: hits some other group even harder, must have been a mistake and will be fixed, isn’t really that bad, other inane excuse.
At least for the time being, some departments – such as Commerce, whose umbrella I’m under – will still be sending those Five Things. Albeit monthly rather than weekly.
The real question is what the hell are they smoking? Their rights are getting transported to the Delta Quadrant and they don’t believe it. They continue to tout their idol.
Not a gaffe (IMO). Just a slip-up. He wants to be the War President and thus go to a (relatively safe yet not yet revealed) place.
Safest would be Sevastopol, where he could admire the Russian Southern Fleet. Yet to be a True War Commander I reckon Putin could make a former resort port spot like Mariupol into a Potemkin (fake) Village, and as he knows a lot about real estate, praise Russia for rebuilding the Ocean-front (well Sea) village they destroyed.
Wherever they hang out for a while, then a press conference and photo ops, the land plans have been leaked: Ukraine isn’t getting anywhere nearer than 20 miles to the Azov Ocean/Sea.
You don’t really need to defund them to cause a problem. Organizations take their leads from, well, leaders. Trump et al. have made it clear they want to do away with all those pesky ‘regulations’ that are stifling Profit and Causing Socialism, and eventually, that percolates down to the people doing the work. Why argue with some steel company manager about safety in the workplace, if you think your boss’ boss is going to countermand you next week anyways? You still get paid, and no manager every complains to your boss about passing an inspection.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump is considering a lawsuit against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell related to his management of renovations at the Fed’s Washington headquarters, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday.
The potential move, suggested earlier in a presidential social media post, escalates Trump’s continuing pressure on the central bank leader to cut interest rates.
A Fed spokesperson did not have a comment.
White House officials have said they are investigating renovations of two historic buildings by the Fed, suggesting poor oversight and potential fraud have driven up the cost unnecessarily and that the project is inappropriately ostentatious to boot.
Anthony Scaramucci, former White House Communications Director, has challenged Wall Street’s assumption that President Donald Trump will leave office in three and a half years and warned that the full impact of his tariffs is yet to come.
Scaramucci Criticizes Wall Street’s Optimism Over Trump’s Exit
In a video posted over the weekend, Scaramucci expressed concern that Wall Street is complacent, believing Trump’s time in office is limited.
He highlighted the President’s $200 million White House ballroom renovation project, questioning the belief that Trump will leave in 3.5 years.
“Do you know anybody who builds a $200 million ballroom onto their house and moves out in three and a half years?” Scaramucci said. “The guy’s making expansive renovations to the White House. Doesn’t smell like a guy that wants to leave anytime soon.”
Scaramucci continued, suggesting that Trump’s presidency is far from over, pointing to the expanding renovations and a growing “personality cult” around him.
He cautioned Wall Street that a “cleanup” of Trump’s policies will be needed but is unlikely to happen quickly. The challenge, he warned, will be economic, particularly due to the ongoing trade war and the implementation of tariffs.
President Donald Trump raged against Goldman Sachs, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and even his former Treasury secretary as he defended his global reciprocal tariffs - and continued to promote claims its countries, not consumers, are footing the bill.
“Also, it has been shown that, for the most part, Consumers aren’t even paying these Tariffs, it is mostly Companies and Governments, many of them Foreign, picking up the tabs. But David Solomon and Goldman Sachs refuse to give credit where credit is due,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday.
It has become a long refrain for the president that others pay tariffs, despite the fact that the cost is typically passed on to consumers.
The reason why is blatantly obvious. If he backs down on this insistence, it will show to all and sundry, even his magaflatearthers, he doesn’t know a damn thing about economic issues.
While Donald Trump claimed the Washington, D.C., crime rate is comparable to tumultuous foreign cities like Baghdad and Panama City, MSNBC put a graphic onscreen showing that the city has actually been experiencing brighter days.
“Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs, and homeless people,” Trump said during a press conference on Monday, during which he announced that he’d be deploying the National Guard around town.
That’s when MSNBC smoothly slotted in a graphic titled “Decreases in Violence Crime Rates,” which showed that overall violent crime in D.C. has dropped by 26%, homicides have declined by 12% and robberies decreased by 28%. All the data on the graphic was sourced from the FBI and the Metropolitan Police Department of D.C.
The cost of living in America is projected to rise because of President Trump’s latest round of tariffs, and that’s a political problem for the president and Republican lawmakers in Washington, who campaigned in 2024 on bringing down the cost of groceries and other staples, a message that resonated strongly with voters.
More than six months into Trump’s second term, however, the costs of groceries, and other essential goods, such as cars, have continued to rise, corresponding with a drop in Trump’s job approval rating and a souring public view of Trump’s handling of the economy.
The cost of even “cheap” eats has become fodder for debate on social media, as people grumble about everything from the price of McDonald’s hash browns to Coca-Cola.
& the real kicker
Trump’s tariffs are expected to put upward pressure on costs. Experts project the higher fees on goods from Canada, the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and other major trading partners could cost the average family of four an additional $2,400 or more in annual expenses.
The Pentagon is reportedly drawing up plans for a “reaction force” of hundreds of National Guard members who would be ready to deploy at any moment to help quell civil unrest.
The plan, reported by the Washington Post, for a “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” calls for 600 troops on standby at all times, ready to deploy in as little as one hour, The troops would reportedly be split into two groups of 300, stationed at military bases in Alabama and Arizona.
The documents, reportedly prepared for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth by policy chief Elbridge Colby, outline a “predecisional” idea.
The secretary of defense won’t confirm the time limits on Donald Trump’s capital takeover.
The president activated 800 National Guard members to Washington Monday. He also federalized the Metropolitan Police Department to rid the country’s capital of homeless people and to handle a nonexistent uptick in crime. To do so, Trump declared a “public safety emergency,” emphasizing Washington’s supposedly startling rise in crime while citing inflammatory statistics from 2023 instead of 2025.
Trump’s order, however, has an expiration date: The president has 30 days before his occupation of the Metropolitan Police requires congressional approval by way of a new law.
His time constraints on leveraging the D.C. National Guard are a bit more complicated: Trump’s repeated use of the National Guard brushes up against the Posse Comitatus Act, a federal law dating back to 1878 that forbids the government from using the military for law enforcement purposes. The trial challenging the legality of his decision to deploy the National Guard in June against Los Angeles protesters kicked off Monday in a California courtroom.
But it’s not clear if the Trump administration has any intention of respecting the law. In an interview with Fox News Monday evening, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth refused to acknowledge the time constraint when pressed about the legal requirement.
“How long will that be?” interrupted Fox News’s Laura Ingraham as the Pentagon chief rattled off the White House’s intention to bring even more federal forces to Washington’s doorstep.
“Who knows!” Hegseth exclaimed.
Sorry. I meant to say, “Pete gave away the plan. And, wow, did he. (Same link,my bolding.)
“Well it costs money, right?” Ingraham continued. “The question is, are you there for a year? Are you there for six months? And when the troops pull out, what happens then?”
“I would call this conditions-based,” Hegseth said. “I would say it’s a situation where we’re here to support law enforcement. And the more we can free them up to do their job, the more effective they can be, the more we can work—I mean, this isn’t my realm, but the justice system to make sure people who are arrested are actually locked up. That’s why the president is talking about cashless bail and sanctuary cities. If you’re illegal here in D.C., that’s going to be a problem.”
“Weeks, months, what will it take, that’s the president’s call,” Hegseth lied.
A lawsuit by Trump because the Fed renovations were ostentatious? The irony is overwhelming. Perhaps a trademark infringement suit would be more appropriate. Only the White House is allowed to be gaudier than a French whore house.
Jimmy Kimmel revealed he has his Italian passport ready, just in case.
During an interview with comedian Sarah Silverman on her podcast, the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host discussed how “much worse” the president’s second term has been for the country, without getting into specifics. He said he has obtained Italian citizenship as a result. Kimmel’s Italian heritage from his mother’s side gave him the option to double up his citizenship.
“What’s going on [with Trump] is as bad as you thought it was gonna be,” Kimmel told his ex-girlfriend.
“I feel like it’s probably even worse than [Trump] would like it to be,” he added.
Kimmel has criticized Trump pretty much nonstop on his late-night show since before the president first won the White House in 2016.
The White House plans to conduct a wide-ranging review of the Smithsonian Institution’s museum exhibitions, materials and operations ahead of America’s 250th anniversary next year to ensure the museums align with President Donald Trump’s view of American history, a White House official confirmed to ABC News.
In a letter sent to Lonnie Bunch, the secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, the White House writes that it wants to ensure that the museums “reflect the unity, progress, and enduring values that define the American story.”
The White House writes that in accordance with a March executive order, “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History,” officials will be leading a “comprehensive internal review of selected Smithsonian museums and exhibitions. This initiative aims to ensure alignment with the President’s directive to celebrate American exceptionalism, remove divisive or partisan narratives, and restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions.”
The review will focus on several key areas, including examining public-facing content, such as exhibition texts, websites and social media “to assess tone, historical framing, and alignment with American ideals.”
In addition, the review will examine the curatorial process, current and future exhibitions, how existing materials and collections are used and the development of “consistent curatorial guidelines that reflect the Smithsonian’s original mission.”
And here is where the damage begins.
For now, the review will focus on eight Smithsonian museums:
The National Museum of American History
The National Museum of Natural History
The National Museum of African American History and Culture
The National Museum of the American Indian
The National Air and Space Museum
The Smithsonian American Art Museum
The National Portrait Gallery
The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
Take a wild guess which one’s going to be an empty building first.
Your next K-beauty haul or Amazon splurge might come with an unwelcome surprise: hefty tariff fees, even if you didn’t realize you’re buying from overseas.
The U.S. has long allowed packages worth $800 or less to enter the country without duties or tariffs, thanks to something called de minimis exemption — government talk for “the small fees aren’t worth the time.” More than 1.36 billion packages entered duty-free in 2024 alone.
All that’s about to end. On August 29, every international shipment, from German-made electronics on Amazon to custom earrings from Canada through Etsy, will face new tariffs that depend on where the item is made.
The White House itself says to expect fees ranging from $80 to $200 for each item. But don’t panic: You can dodge or avoid these fees with a few simple moves.
And here those moves are.
Check where your order ships from. Customs bills only hit purchases coming into the U.S. from another country. It’s not always obvious, but look for “ships from U.S. warehouse” options or contact customer support to confirm.
Find out where it’s made. Where a package ships from doesn’t determine tariffs — where it’s made does. A Chinese-made phone shipping from a U.S. Amazon warehouse still faces Chinese tariff rates. On the flip side, a U.S.-made product shipping internationally won’t trigger import duties when it returns home.
Look for tariff charges at checkout. Some retailers now calculate and collect estimated tariffs during checkout, while others leave you to pay duties when packages arrive. Look for “duties,” “customs” or “import charges” before completing your purchase. If fees aren’t shown at checkout for international purchases, expect to pay them on delivery.
Know what’s still duty-free. Personal items brought back from international travel are exempt up to $200 each person. If you’re planning a trip abroad, you can bring back items purchased overseas without paying customs as long as they’re for personal use and under that threshold.
Take advantage of gift exemptions. Thanks to an exemption that survived changes, you can still accept gifts valued up to $100 from friends or family abroad without paying duties.
Federal judges in several states have rejected President Trump’s controversial picks for top prosecutor posts in a rare standoff between the courts and the White House, but those acting U.S. attorneys will nonetheless remain in place because of actions taken by the president and the Justice Department.
Last month in New York and New Jersey, panels of federal district judges declined to appoint two of Mr. Trump’s interim choices to serve as U.S. attorneys – John Sarcone III of New York and Alina Habba of New Jersey. By law, if the Senate fails to confirm a nominee for a judicial post within 120 days, the District Court can extend the interim appointee or select someone else to serve in an acting capacity until a presidential nominee is confirmed.
That’s enough intro from the article. But what kind of people is the felon keeping place? Surely, they’re the ones you would want to look out for people’s rights, aren’t they?
Chattah was in private practice and previously ran unsuccessfully for state attorney general in Nevada. Critics have also accused her of using public office to pursue prosecutions of her political opponents and criticized her use of racially charged language in the past.
A group of more than 100 former judges sent a letter to the District Court in Nevada, urging the judicial panel to reject the extension of Chattah’s appointment on the grounds of inflammatory remarks she had made in the past. In 2022, she said of her opponent state attorney general’s race, Aaron Ford, who is Black, that he should be “hanging from a f****** crane.”
What the ever loving fuck? Yeah, the article continued quoting her lame excuse. There is no excuse for that comment. There is no way someone immigrated to this country, as a teenager, and does not know about that quaint little tidbit of our FUCKING HISTORY CALLED LYNCHING!
And someone who pretends they did not is most certainly not a person we need involved in any way whatsoever with our judicial system except as a defendant.
Hell, the entire clingon of asskissers deserve to be in prison.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. finally visited the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday, three days after a shooting took place.
According to Channel 2 Action News, Kennedy was spotted arriving at the facility in a motorcade and reportedly met with the director of the CDC. A HHS press release reported that CDC security led Kennedy through a Roybal Campus tour to show the shattered windows from the shooting.
Kennedy also met with DeKalb County Police Chief Greg Padrick along with a private meeting with the widow of Officer David Rose, who died responding to the shooting.
“He offered his deepest condolences and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to honoring Officer Rose’s bravery, sacrifice, and service to the nation,” the press release said.
CDC workers were working remotely on the day of Kennedy’s visit.
Smart move, especially if you’re worried about exposure to the unvaccinated.
The first night of Donald Trump’s takeover of the nation’s capital is in the books. As Trump would have us believe, he has begun to “liberate” Washington, D.C., from a crime surge (that actually does not exist). Troops have started clearing the streets of what he describes as a scourge of “violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people.”
Night one’s results are (to an extent) in: “As part of the president’s massive law enforcement surge,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday, “last night, approximately 850 officers and agents were surged across the city. They made a total of 23 arrests.”
For some perspective, according to the Police Scorecard, the D.C. police, between 2013 and 2023, made roughly 58.7 arrests on average each day.
And the crimes invovled in that horrific crime spree in the Wild Wild West of DC?
Leavitt also provided a laundry list of the charges—ranging from fare dodging to homicide—that, without the raw information on individual cases, is pretty unhelpful in gauging the effectiveness of the effort: “Homicide, firearms offenses, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, fare evasion, lewd acts, stalking, possession of a high-capacity magazine, fleeing to elude in a vehicle, no permits, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and a bench warrant.”
I think the resident at 1600 Pennsylvania might recognize some of those charges.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was pressed on Tuesday after President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggested the agency suspend its monthly jobs report.
Economist E.J. Antoni, ahead of Trump’s nomination announcement on Monday, told Fox News Digital earlier this month that the data behind the longstanding economic practice, which helps determine the health of the economy, is frequently unreliable and overstated.
“How on earth are businesses supposed to plan — or how is the [Federal Reserve] supposed to conduct monetary policy — when they don’t know how many jobs are being added or lost in our economy? It’s a serious problem that needs to be fixed immediately,” Antoni, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation conservative think tank, told Fox News Digital.
“Until it is corrected, the BLS should suspend issuing the monthly job reports, but keep publishing the more accurate, though less timely, quarterly data,” he said.
As I said above, the entire administration deserves to be locked up.
