That tweet from Newsom is superb. Only one criticism though: doesn’t contain any typos, so it’s not quite realistic enough.
But that’s the beauty of it. The felon’s followers just got shown it’s actually possible to get transmit a message while literate.
Well, at least it ended with, “THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!” [sic]. Nice dig at how Trump has been ending his messages.
At least this list contains recipients with an actual notable body of worthwhile work.
New target in the War on Education (WOE): George Washington.
The Trump administration said on Tuesday it found George Washington University had violated federal civil rights law regarding Jewish, American Israeli, and Israeli students and faculty and will seek “immediate remediation” from the school.
In a statement, the U.S. Department of Justice said GWU had acted “deliberately indifferent to the hostile educational environment for Jewish, American-Israeli, and Israeli students and faculty” during pro-Palestinian protests in April and May 2024. Representatives for the university based in Washington, D.C., could not be immediately reached for comment.
In a letter sent to university President Ellen Granberg on Tuesday, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said the Justice Department found members of the university community engaged in “antisemitic, disruptive protests,” including by establishing an encampment at University Yard. Dhillon said these efforts were meant to “frighten, intimidate, and deny” Jewish, Israeli, and American Israeli students access to the university environment.
Fuck that whole constitution thing, right?
The Trump administration and the aviation companies working for it have been purposely hiding the tail numbers on immigration flights to avoid public scrutiny and accountability, CNN reports. This move comes as the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown ratchets up in frequency and aggression, as deportation flights are up 15 percent from last year.
A plane removing a tail number is the equivalent of a car removing a license plate. With the tail number, civilians, journalists, and immigration organizations alike can keep an eye on which deportation flights are leaving, and to where. It also helps loved ones track their deported family members.
The flights are run by multiple private charter companies and at least one commercial airline, each of which have lucrative contracts with ICE.
The Department of Homeland Security’s latest recruitment video for ICE has everything: A Jay-Z soundtrack, scenes of ICE agents breaking into homes looking for cartel members that look straight out of a movie, and a font flashed on screen that some say looks uncomfortably familiar.
The type ― reading “Save America” and “join.ice.gov” ― looks a little “Nazi-like,” many on social media noted when it was posted earlier this week. The video was taken down Tuesday due to copyright infringement of the aforementioned Jay-Z song, but you can still find reposts of it around the internet.
This part is rather telling. (The bolding is mine.)
Do experts ― graphic designers and historians who study Nazi Germany propaganda ― see the resemblance in font selection? Some do. Khara Cloutier, a typography instructor in the extended studies program at CalArts in Santa Clarita, California, thinks the comparison is “absolutely relevant.”
“It’s a Blackletter script, and a variety known as Fraktur was used on the cover of Adolf Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf,’ and early Nazi propaganda,” she said.
Killer Kennedy’s counselor might get loomered.
After playing an outsized role in pushing out roughly a dozen Trump administration officials for supposedly showing insufficient allegiance to the president, far-right extremist and self-appointed MAGA “loyalty” enforcer Laura Loomer is now setting her sights on a new target.
In an interview with Politico Playbook this week, Loomer said she is taking aim at Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his senior counselor Stefanie Spear over concerns that Kennedy is eyeing a 2028 presidential run.
Loomer, who says she is running a tipline to purge “disloyal” members from the administration, told Politico that while she is realistic about the unlikeliness of her running Kennedy out of Washington, she does feel she can knock out some of his deputies – with Spear being front and center on her list.
“I’m not naive enough to think that the president is going to get rid of RFK, but I will say that … there are concerns about some of the staffing decisions over at HHS,” Loomer said.

President Trump’s vaguely positive views on marijuana use and legalization have opened up yet another schism within the MAGA movement, as some hard-liners are reverting back to war on drugs–adjacent rhetoric to express their opposition to perhaps the most popular plant in America.
Last Friday it was reported that Trump told donors at an event that he is considering reclassifying marijuana from its current Schedule I level. It was the first time he’d made any real mention of the substance since he was on the campaign trail in September, where he also expressed support for rescheduling. Moving weed away from Schedule I would essentially make it easier to buy, sell, possess, and tax. It’s worth noting that Kim Rivers, CEO of the massive marijuana company Trulieve, was in attendance.
This news quickly sowed trouble on the right, as both the “western civilization is eroding” guys and the more traditional “just say no” crowd shared their grievances with marijuana.
“Our society thrived when everyone was smoking cigarettes and drinking whiskey,” wrote Daily Wire commentator Matt Walsh, completely ignoring the countless, well-documented, negative impacts (violence and death) of those two American vices. “We became the most powerful nation in the world with liquor and nicotine. No country of potheads has ever thrived, or ever achieved anything at all. Every city that legalized it became an even bigger shithole basically overnight. The entire history of western civilization tells us that marijuana is far, far worse for society.”
Far-right conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec called people smoking weed outside a “huge factor” in violent crime in Washington, D.C. “States with legal weed you can just smell it all over in public,” he continued. “Can’t take kids anywhere.”
That was a nice touch, thouch, wasn’t it, tying in marijuana with the fake crime stats, wasn’t it?
Oh thank God - for a moment I thought it was going to say they used Comic Sans.
Because tiplines have worked so well recently…
Speaking of Loomer - I haven’t found an appropriate thread for this but if you want some entertaining Loomer batshittery, her recent deposition in her defamation case against Bill Maher makes for some very weird reading. I so deeply pity the court reporter here - neither Loomer nor her lawyer can shut up and constantly babble over others.
Alsop, the guy on Bluesky responsible for the “sleep paralysis demon” comment (p.142 of the transcript) is having hysterical conniptions about being accused of secretly being Bill Maher.
I hope no one invents Comic Sans Fraktur typeface.

I have a concern/fear that ALL American Jews will be declared non-citizens, or perhaps “Israeli-Americans” based on Israeli’s Right of Return and very quick granting of citizenship to any Jew setting foot on Israeli soil. At which point they can be declared to have either divided loyalty, or even are non-citizens. After which they can be deported “back” to where they came from, never mind that for most it’s been centuries since they lived in that part of the world. I’m not saying this is a step along the way, but singling Jews (of any sort) out for special treatment this way creeps me the hell out.
Also, not a fan of using Jews and the rights of Jews to trample and suppress the rights of others. Aside from shitting on various groups, that also increases the resentment towards Jews. I view it as an attempt to force Jews to join MAGA by cutting them off from everyone else.
Or maybe I’m just paranoid. Comes from being part of group that has been treated like cockroaches for centuries.
A plane removing a tail number is the equivalent of a car removing a license plate.
Eh… not exactly. Tail numbers are generally for the life of an aircraft, they’re somewhere between license plate and serial number.
Masked ICE agents, anonymous aircraft… nothing sinister or autocratic about this. Nothing to see here, move along, move along….
Okay, color me stupid (my natural hue), but could someone explain what deadline Newsom is referring to? No matter how I parse the search, all I come up with is the 2021 Presidential transition delays.
Granted that most anything which triggers a ketchup-throwing fit from the Tan Toddler is by definition a favor to the universe, some context would be nice.
We also became the most powerful nation in the world with women entering the workforce, embracing science, and transitioning to new energy sources as they became practical. Republicans seem to forget that.
Newsom gave Trump a deadline for abandoning his gerrymandering efforts in Texas a few days ago, with the threat that California would retaliate in kind.
Ah, I was looking for some kind of legal deadline rather than a “line in the sand.”
Ignorance fought defeated. Grazie.
Wait, did Trump cease his gerrymandering efforts in Texas?
Also, what’s Loomer’s beef with RFK? Does she favor a different successor or is she a Trump Third Term creep who hates the idea of anyone else ever being president?
Don’t be so gloomy. After all, it’s not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock
–Harry Lime
Honestly, who could have guessed that Matt Walsh does not understand that correlation does not mean causation?
Other than the folks that do understand it.
Do you think his attention span is that long?
He’s too “busy” to do anything himself. His flunkies in Texas, i.e. the predominant majority of state officials, are keeping the effort going
The felon just lost two battles in WOE.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday struck down two Trump administration actions aimed at eliminating diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the nation’s schools and universities.
In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Stephanie Gallagher in Maryland found that the Education Department violated the law when it threatened to cut federal funding from educational institutions that continued with DEI initiatives.
The guidance has been on hold since April when three federal judges blocked various portions of the Education Department’s anti-DEI measures.
The ruling Thursday followed a motion for summary judgment from the American Federation of Teachers and the American Sociological Association, which challenged the government’s actions in a February lawsuit.
The case centers on two Education Department memos ordering schools and universities to end all “race-based decision-making” or face penalties up to a total loss of federal funding. It’s part of a campaign to end practices the Trump administration frames as discrimination against white and Asian American students.
The new ruling orders the department to scrap the guidance because it runs afoul of procedural requirements, though Gallagher wrote that she took no view on whether the policies were “good or bad, prudent or foolish, fair or unfair.”
Surely this is a woke, Democrat-appointed judge, right? (Same link.)
Gallagher, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, rejected the government’s argument that the memos simply served to remind schools that discrimination is illegal.
OSLO (Reuters) -When U.S. President Donald Trump called Norway’s finance minister last month to discuss tariffs, he also told him he wanted the Nobel Peace Prize, Norwegian business daily Dagens Naeringsliv reported on Thursday.
Several countries including Israel, Pakistan and Cambodia have nominated Trump for brokering peace agreements or ceasefires, and he has said he deserves the Norwegian-bestowed accolade that four White House predecessors received.
“Out of the blue, while Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg was walking down the street in Oslo, Donald Trump called,” Dagens Naeringsliv reported, citing unnamed sources.
“He wanted the Nobel Prize - and to discuss tariffs.”
The world economy’s tanking because of this fool, and what does he want to talk about? Yep, an award he obviously and most decidedly does not merit.
President Donald Trump’s approval rating dropped to 38% in a new Pew Research Center survey as some of his supporters sour on his performance and key initiatives prove unpopular.
Trump’s approval rating is down three points since June and nine points since shortly after his inauguration, when it stood at 47%. Meanwhile, 60% of U.S. adults now disapprove of Trump’s performance, the survey found.
Contributing to Trump’s declining support: Among those who voted for him in 2024, only 85% say they approve of his performance, down from 88% in June and 95% shortly after this election, according to Pew. Trump’s support also has dipped among nonvoters.
And here are the LEF takeaways from the same link.
Trump’s declining job approval comes as voters have concerns about key elements of his agenda.
The Pew survey found that 61% of Americans dissapprove of Trump’s tariffs. The president has implemented an aggressive program to impose levies on goods flowing into the U.S. from trading partners across the globe.
A plurality of Americans also oppose Trump’s signature law that reduced taxes and made steep cuts to programs such as Medicaid. The Pew survey found that 46% of Americans dissapprove of the law, while 32% approve and 23% say they’re unsure.
Trump’s handling of information related to Jeffrey Epstein is generating significant bipartisan concern, according to the poll, with 70% of Americans disapproving, including 53% of Republicans and those who lean Republican.
Loudoun County, Virginia, school board tells the feds to piss up a rope.
A Northern Virginia school district voted to keep its transgender bathroom policy in defiance of a U.S. Department of Education directive to rescind the policy or risk punishment.
At a closed-session meeting on Tuesday, the Loudoun County school board voted 6-3 to keep its gender identity policy, which allows students to use the locker rooms and restrooms that correspond with their gender identity.
The district was one of five Northern Virginia school districts urged in July to drop its transgender bathroom policy, after an investigation by the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) found the schools to be in violation of Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education.
I assume the rope is gender-inclusive for use.
The felon’s first flack is chucked from a British pub.
Vice President JD Vance was reportedly turned away by a popular British pub after staffers threatened not to show up for work if the restaurant booked his reservation.
An employee at The Bull in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, said they were unable to comment on the matter when contacted by The Daily Beast. Public House Group, the restaurant group that operates the understated Michelin-rated venue, hasn’t responded to a Daily News request for comment.
Some residents of the Oxfordshire hamlet have become upset by Vance choosing their south-central England region to spend some downtime. Local media outlet the Oxford Clarion posted photos of signs in locals’ lawns protesting the vice president.
“Fascists not welcome here,” read one of those signs, while another simply told Vance to “go home.”
And this part is hilarious.
The Oxford Mail reported in late July that former Vice President Kamala Harris had just visited The Bull and at least one other establishment in the area without incident.
Felon-in-Chief supporting senator has an ineresting tirade about Washington’s mayor.
“The left media, and the leaders in Washington, D.C., especially — and I will say this — the very racist mayor, and people may get eyebrows when I raise that, but he’s the one that brings in race into the conversation,” Mullin said on the “The Ingraham Angle.”
“So he’s the one that’s pointing the fingers at it, and when you point one finger, you got three pointing right back at you. But for him to say that, and flat out lie to the American people, he knows exactly what’s happening,“ he continued.
The mayor of Washington, DC is Muriel Bowser, a female.
A former NFL star nominated by President Donald Trump to a federal commission for kids says he believes schools should bring back corporal punishment to stop young criminals from “terrorizing” America’s streets.
In the wake of Trump’s decision to send in the National Guard to deal with “uncontrollable” crime in Washington, D.C., Jack Brewer—an ex-pro football safety who served on the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys—used a TV appearance to call for the return of paddling in America’s classrooms.
Speaking Wednesday on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime, Brewer said: “Schools have to start back disciplining kids.
“They took the paddle out of the school and everything collapsed. We got to get the paddle back.”
As of 2024, according to the National Education Association, 17 states allow corporal punishment in public schools, and it is still practiced in dozens of districts—despite calls for it to be outlawed.
Black students are four times more likely than white students to experience this type of punishment. But Brewer, who is Black, said: “Listen, corporal punishment is the only way.”
Beat them. There’s no other choice. Beat the children. That’s the ticket.
Moron.
Because he was beaten as a child. Bet money on it.
Right. And the mantra of such individuals with that mindset + history, bar none, is *I was whipped as a child and I turned out just fine!”
The thing is, they did not turn out just fine. It’s not fine to think it’s a good thing to whip children, or anyone else, for that matter.
