Obama’s Nobel was undeserved, which is one of the reasons the temper tanTrump in the White House runs a deeper shade of orange every time he thinks about it. So OK, give Obama another one, make the Deluded Dopey Dotard Don even more jealous and show everyone who cares that the Nobel Prices should be abolished. The idea of an individual price for special achievements in any discipline whatsoever is so anachronistic, the Nobel Committee could just as well give the Orange Idjit all the prices this year, including literature (they gave Winston Churchill a literature price too!) and medicine (let’s say: for fighting Covid or fighting vaccines, whatever you like. Or for staying alive on a diet of hamberders: great achievement, that is). Best way to cancel itself. Close the perpetual fund, give the money to charity (and a 30% cut to trump, to top it off). Does the Nobel Committee have the cojones to go down in shaming flames? I fear they do not, but I like the idea. Lemme daydream.

E.J. Antoni, tapped to replace former BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer, whom the president fired after claiming the agency “rigged” disappointing jobs report figures, has repeatedly appeared in front of the massive portrait of Adolf Hitler’s favorite battleship during media interviews.
In an October 2023 appearance on TFTC, a Bitcoin podcast hosted by Marty Bent, Antoni was immediately asked about the picture of the Bismarck, the largest warship in the world at the time that served as the flagship of Nazi Germany’s Kriegsmarine.
“The Bismarck, yep, in all his glory,” Antoni said. “It is at the bottom of the sea, along with the Hood, that it sank just days before.”
The “Hood“ is the British naval ship HMS Hood, which the Bismarck sank in May 1941, killing all but three of its 1,418 crew. The Bismarck itself was sunk just days later in a battle with the British air and naval fleet around 300 miles off the coast of France.
Antoni also referred to the Bismarck as “his,” when ships are typically considered female and referred to as “she” or “her.” Another person who considered the Bismarck male was Ernst Lindemann, the sole commander of the battleship, which was itself named after Germany’s 19th-century “Iron Chancellor,” Otto von Bismarck.

So-called ‘ICE Barbie’ Kristi Noem has claimed 1.6 million migrants have left the country since President Donald Trump took office but the group behind the number says it may be overstated.
The Homeland Security secretary, known for donning Immigrations and Customs Enforcement gear for publicity stunts, appeared on Fox News Thursday to share, “We have 1.6 million illegal immigrants that have left this country voluntarily.”

Homeland Security posted on X Thursday, sharing what it said was “unprecedented” data showing, “1.6 MILLION illegals are OUT of our country in the last 200 days.”
The data was from a release published by the Center for Immigration Studies, a non-profit research organization that describes itself as “low-immigration, pro-immigrant.”
The non-profit analyzed data from the government’s Current Population Survey and found the estimated number of the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. in January was 15.8 million and it decreased to 14.2 million by July.
But there were some caveats the non-profit mentioned including the possibility immigrants may now be more reluctant to respond to the government survey because of “the recent stepped-up enforcement efforts.”

He wasn’t given the prize for any one work, but “for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values”

In World of Warships Bismarck is available as a tier VIII (of X) battleship. There are three skins available, the ordinary one you can see in the page’s thumbnail, as she was when she left port for Operation Rheinübung, and as she was just before slipping beneath the waves (except all the turrets still work).
Why does Indiana surprise you? They have been very conservative for a very long time. Hell, they were the epicenter of the KKK resurgence in the 20th century!

Total nitpick: It wasn’t the largest warship at the time, but it was the largest warship Germany had. You’d figure even Raw Story would be able to get that right.
My nitpick: Why is he bragging about the Bismarck? It’s a shining example of everything that was wrong with Nazi Germany, all wrapped up in a bow and sent to the bottom of the sea.
A huge project that they lied about to circumvent international treaties. Enormously costly as compared to the far more effective U-Boat fleet. It scored one win in the one battle that it ultimately lost just days after sailing, all the while utterly failing to accomplish even an iota of its intended task, that being commerce raiding.
If it wasn’t for the lucky hit on Hood’s magazine, its entire career would have been a complete boondoggle on an historical scale.
I always find this one of the most meaningless statistics, as I’m certain individuals’ responses to polls such as this have ZERO bearing on whether they would vote for Trump or his handpicked successor instead of a most qualified Dem opponent.
Besides the fact that even if he has zero percent approval, he’s still president with nothing on the horizon to change that until 2028.
