The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

That is what AI is for. That, and hallucinating.

I bet they use Deepseek.

Kill Unvet them all, and let God figure it out!”

I can’t get my knickers too twisted about this one. I always thought that case was a tad weak, and the penalty was a bit high.

John Bolton, former security advisor of the chickenhawk president, got his home raided by the FBI. He had lost his security clearance before, due to angering his former boss. Revenge, pure and simple. And mean spirited. And petty:

The first Trump administration had unsuccessfully sought to block the publication of a Bolton book that it said contained classified information.

After a judge ruled, in June 2020, that the book could be published, Trump said Bolton “must pay a very big price for this, as others have before him”.

If you thought this image was Mar-a-Lago

and this statement

The FBI director, Kash Patel, posted a cryptic message on X on Friday morning, saying: “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”

was grounds for rejoicing, think again:

And to add insult to offence:

JD Vance, the US vice-president, reposted Patel’s message, as did Dan Bongino, the deputy director of the FBI. Bongino added: “Public corruption will not be tolerated.”

They have no shame. Don’s disgusting despicable deplorables.

“Mines? I thought they said ‘mimes’, and that just sounded like good planning…”

The attack on education for the un-wealthy continues:

These programs help poor students with college. Trump wants to pull the funding

Trump wants to cut funds to college programs for poor students : NPR

It’s part of a group of federal programs, known as TRIO, aimed at helping low-income and first-generation students earn a college degree, often becoming the first in their families to do so.

A White House budget proposal would eliminate spending on TRIO. The document says “access to college is not the obstacle it was for students of limited means,” and it puts the onus on colleges to recruit and support students.

“TRIO has been around for 60 years,” said Kimberly Jones, the president of COE. “We’ve produced millions of college graduates. We know it works.”

Yet Education Secretary Linda McMahon and the White House refer to the programs as a “relic of the past.”

During a Senate subcommittee hearing in June, McMahon acknowledged that “there is some effectiveness of the programs, in many circumstances.”

Still, she said there is not enough research to justify TRIO’s total cost. “That’s a real drawback in these programs,” McMahon said.

Now, she is asking lawmakers to eliminate TRIO spending after this year and has already canceled some previously approved TRIO grants.

My bold.

Yeah, 60 years of success don’t count for squat. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

If their parents can’t afford college, then clearly God does not want them to go to college–DUH! If the colleges want these students so badly, then the colleges can pay. Why should the taxpayers? Besides, the country is going to need a lot more people in trade and manual labor jobs. That’s where these un-wealthy, un-white kids belong anyway, like their parents and grandparents. The gummint shouldn’t interfere with family traditions like not finishing high school. Family values!! *

Damn. Reading this stuff every day makes me NUTS. I just sit in front of my computer and weep at the dismantling of decades of progress in soooo many areas. I want to turn away but feel obligated to at least be informed… AAAGGGHHH! :sob:

* Of course, I made up that diatribe. But that seems like what these bastards are thinking.

You’re assuming that “success” is “more college graduates.” The New America will need fewer college graduates, because we’ll want lots of people working in the service industry for low wages, and we’ll want healthcare workers we can underpay, and we’ll need people who’ll harvest the crops because they have no other option.

We don’t need more college graduates to compete with the children of the dwindling elite for the few remaining middle-class jobs.

College educates people, and the Right wants and needs people to be as ignorant as possible. From a right wing point of view people shouldn’t even get an elementary school education, just be taught to memorize lines from the Bible and such. Ignorance is Strength.

Remember that commercial truck driver who happened to be an illegal immigrant, who killed three people in a tragic accident?

The Trump administration has decided to overreact to it by crashing the economy some more.

The trucking industry has been desperately short of drivers for years; this certainly will solve that problem!!

What to watch (to cite just one):

Rising shipping demand coupled with a growing shortage of drivers has brought the logistics industry to an inflection point, and the need for an autonomous trucking solution like Waymo Via has never been more apparent. To help accelerate this autonomous future, we’re partnering with Uber Freight to connect our technology with their platform and deploy autonomous trucks across their network.

Shit, I don’t even trust robo-taxis, and now they want to put clankers in charge of tractor-trailers?

Simpsons did it.

No detail is too small if it can be used to stick it to those who are “woke.”

Florida paints over Pulse rainbow crosswalk without warning, officials say

Local leaders, residents outraged as removal comes after directive from DeSantis and Trump to wipe crosswalks and sidewalks with “social, political or ideological messages.”

https://wapo.st/4oOYXlY

A year after a gunman killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando in 2016, Florida’s Transportation Department approved plans for a rainbow crosswalk to honor the victims of what was then the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

On Thursday, residents and community leaders discovered that the same department painted over those rainbow stripes in response to dual directives from Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and President Donald Trump to wipe crosswalks and sidewalks considered to have “social, political or ideological messages.”

The Florida Transportation Department said in a statement that as part of its latest initiative to ensure that “roadways are not utilized for social, political, or ideological interests,” it notified local governments last week of their noncompliance and instructed them to bring their roadways up to state standards.

REEEEELY good use of funds and human labor.

The plan is working.

The most recent test scores for Chicago Public Schools show fewer than 1-in-3 students could read at grade level. Fewer than 1-in-5 could do math at grade level.

Pandemic hangover?

The felon’s going for a piece of the action.

CHICAGO — After the federal takeover of the Washington, DC, police to combat the “crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor,” President Donald Trump has now set his sights on Chicago.

“Chicago’s a mess," said Trump during a meeting at the Oval Office with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Aug. 22. "You have an incompetent mayor. Grossly incompetent. We’ll straighten that one out probably next. That’ll be our next one after this.”

Trump’s comments come at a point where Chicago has seen significant reductions in violent crime, according to Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office. High-profile mass shootings continue to rock the city. But overall crime has declined, including a 30% drop in homicides, the mayor’s office said. Deploying the National Guard could potentially undermine the city’s progress, Johnson said.

“The problem with the President’s approach is that it is uncoordinated, uncalled for, and unsound,” said the city’s progressive mayor. “Unlawfully deploying the National Guard to Chicago has the potential to inflame tensions between residents and law enforcement when we know that trust between police and residents is foundational to building safer communities. An unlawful deployment would be unsustainable and would threaten to undermine the historic progress we have made.”

The mayor’s office left out unconstitutitonal. But, hey, let’s see what else the felon-in-chief had to say.

Chicagoans however “are screaming for us to come,” Trump said.

“They’re wearing red hats just like this one. But they’re wearing red hats,” he said. “African American ladies, beautiful ladies are saying, please, President Trump, come to Chicago, please.”

Name even one, you fucking liar.

Speaking of the military, Perpetually Peeved Pete cashiers yet more flag officers.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired a general whose agency’s initial intelligence assessment of U.S. damage to Iranian nuclear sites angered President Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with the decision and a White House official.

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse will no longer serve as head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, according to the people, who spoke Friday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.

Hegseth also fired Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, who is chief of the Navy Reserve, as well as Rear Adm. Milton Sands, a Navy SEAL officer who oversees Naval Special Warfare Command, another U.S. official said.

No reasons were given for their firings, the latest in a series of steps targeting military leaders, intelligence officials and other perceived critics of Donald Trump, who has demanded loyalty across the government. The administration also stripped security clearances this week from additional current and former national security officials.

Taken together, the moves could chill dissent and send a signal against reaching conclusions at odds with Trump’s interests.

Turns out our vice president is a criminal alien after all.

LONDON (AP) — British Foreign Secretary David Lammy went fishing with U.S. Vice President JD Vance earlier this month and the closest thing he came to catching was a whopping fine.

Lammy was given a written warning for fishing without a license, an Environment Agency spokesperson said Friday.

As far as breaking the law goes, it was pretty small fry but could have netted him a fine of up to 2,500 pounds ($3,380) for the offense.

Still on the recreational front, the felon says he looks good in shorts.

Many 79-year-old men aren’t exactly eager to show off what they’re working with below the knee.

Donald Trump, per usual, is an exception.

Speaking at the White House on Aug. 22, the president boasted about the appearance of his lower legs.

“I look extremely good in shorts,” he said, responding to a question about whether he plans to participate in the FIFA World Cup draw at the Kennedy Center in December.

The felon’s mini-me puppet in Florida says he shall not follow court orders.

A federal judge has ordered the shutdown of “Alligator Alcatraz,” the controversial immigrant detention center deep in the Florida Everglades, citing environmental damage and legal violations in its construction.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen M. Williams issued the ruling Thursday, directing that no new detainees be sent to the site and that existing detainees be moved within 60 days.

The order also requires the dismantling of much of the equipment installed to support the facility and blocks the government from undertaking any new construction at the detention center.

And a DeSantis spokesman had this to say. (The bolding is mine.)

A spokesperson for the state attorney general’s office said on X that it would seek to appeal the ruling, saying that Williams’ district was the “improper venue” for a lawsuit about the center, and that the judge had overstepped her authority. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ spokesman told CNN: “The deportations will continue until morale improves.”

Vance has an interesting appraisal of Putin.

Vance also made an appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on Wednesday, and spoke about all things Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, his besties in the Trump administration, and his ongoing back-and-forth with California Governor Gavin Newsom. When asked about his impression of Vladimir Putin, Vance said he’s never actually met him, but he’s a real swell guy.

“You know, the American media has a particular image of him. He’s soft spoken, in a certain way. He’s very deliberate. He’s very careful,” Vance said. “And I think fundamentally he is a person who looks out for the interests, as he sees it, of Russia. And I think one of the reasons he respects the president of the United States is because he knows the president looks out for the interests of the American people.”

What’s the Russian word for this? тройка? секс втроем?*

And here’s the caliber of advisor the felon has. (The bolding is mine; the boldness is the heroic protestors’.)

One of President Donald Trump’s top advisors slammed protests against the National Guard presence in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, as the administration says it is working to crack down on crime in the nation’s capital.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Vice President JD Vance and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with guardsmen at Union Station, C-SPAN reported.

During the meeting, demonstrators nearby chanted “Free D.C.!”

The protesters and the noises that came from them visibly irritated Miller, who loudly said the Trump administration would not let “communists destroy a great American city, let alone the nation’s capital.”

“I’m glad they’re here today because me, Pete and the vice president are going to leave here, and inspired by them, we’re going to add thousands more resources to this city to get the criminals and the gang members out of here,” Miller added.

Miller claimed that the president “is the one who is fixing” the safety of Washington’s Black residents through his recent actions.

“So we’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies,” Miller said. “They all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over 90 years old. And we’re going to get back to the business of protecting the American people and the citizens of Washington, D.C.”

Federal worker? Check! Office shot at? Check? Wow. I did not know condolence cards came in pink.

At least 600 employees at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention are expected to receive layoff notices this week as the administration seeks to downsize the agency – just weeks after its headquarters became the target of a deadly shooting.

Some workers in the U.S. public health agency began receiving notices this week of final terminations, but others have not, making it difficult to determine how many people are being let go, the American Federation of Government Employees, the union representing hundreds of thousands of government employees, said.

The agency cuts are occurring roughly a week after a federal judge ruled that hundreds of CDC employees could be laid off, with some exceptions.

The cuts also come just as CDC employees are returning to its headquarters in Georgia after a gunman fired 180 shots at the building, causing dozens of windows to shatter and leaving bullet holes scattered across the building.

Employees who returned to the office this week after the traumatic shooting shared photos with NOTUS that showed windows still damaged by bullet holes and handwritten signs taped to chairs warning people of glass on the carpet.

Calvinball Jurisprudence

Late Thursday afternoon, the Supreme Court handed down an incomprehensible order concerning the Trump administration’s decision to cancel numerous public health grants. The array of six opinions in National Institutes of Health v. American Public Health Association is so labyrinthine that any judge who attempts to parse it risks being devoured by a minotaur.

As Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson writes in a partial dissent, the decision is “Calvinball jurisprudence,” which appears to be designed to ensure that “this Administration always wins.”

“He picked ME! He chose ME!” Ah, the rallying cry of a snowflake.

Alina Habba is whining that federal judges aren’t respecting the president after one ruled that she’d been unlawfully serving as acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey for over a month.

“I am the pick of the president, I am the pick of Pam Bondi our attorney general, and I will serve this country like I have for the last several years in any capacity,” Habba said about the challenges to her appointment during an appearance on Fox News Thursday night.

“It’s disturbing what we’re seeing. It’s not surprising, but it’s disturbing,” she continued. “They think they have a voice for five minutes, they try to be activists.

“And Pam Bondi called it like it is. The attorney general said it today: We will not fall to rogue judges. We will not fall to people trying to be political when they should just be doing their job, respecting the president,” Trump’s former lawyer said.

WTF? Nobody has as their job respecting the president. This is not Thailand with its ridiculous Lèse-Majesté law.

Weed users are now in the felon’s sights.

The Trump administration’s lawyers want the Supreme Court to make it official that regular weed smokers, as well as other drug users, should not be allowed to own firearms.

An appeals court has said a federal law making it a crime for drug users to have a gun can’t be used against someone based solely on their past drug use.

In Oklahoma, there are protections for both firearm owners and marijuana users set in place that could work against this legislation, should the Supreme Court make a decision.

I’m wondering how they’re going to justify that when they’re not saying anyone who’s ever imbibed alcohol is not prohibited from gun ownership. Who am I kidding? They’ll just do it and not justify it.

The deflections are getting downright weird now. (Epstein related.)

The Justice Department (DOJ) on Friday released transcripts and audio files from its interview with Ghislaine Maxwell and turned over to House lawmakers thousands of pages of documents related to convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The disclosures came as Justice Department officials sought to satisfy lawmakers in both parties who had pushed for more transparency around the Epstein files.

Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein, was convicted in 2021 on sex trafficking charges and sentenced to 20 years in prison. She sat down with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche for two days in July to discuss the Epstein case, during which she told him she “never witnessed” President Trump in an “inappropriate setting.”

Didn’t we go through this already with Cruella de Vile?

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s demand to personally sign-off on department expenses over $100,000 is causing severe operational delays – some in areas that are “critical” to defending national security, a new report has claimed.

More than 500 funding requests were awaiting direct approval from Noem on July 30, with another 1,500 requiring approval from lower level department staffers before being sent on to her, according to The New York Times.

Noem introduced the new rule as part of a crack down on apparent wasteful spending within DHS.

Internal documents, reviewed by The Times, revealed that the backlog of requests is impacting work across DHS agencies and divisions including Immigration, Border Control, TSA, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In spreadsheets detailing reasons for the requests, some agencies described their contracts as “mission critical.”

In June, Noem said her request reviews could take up to five days but the documents reportedly show that many are taking weeks to process.

A DHS spokesperson denied the claims and toldThe Times that, as of this past Monday, Noem did “not have a single contract on her desk awaiting signature.” The newspaper was unable to confirm that statement.

The felon’s latest brag!

President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed to be the world’s leading expert on a very unexpected subject: grass.

“I’m pretty good at grass because I have a lot of golf courses all over the place,” he said. “I know more about grass than any human being, I think, anywhere in the world.”

And he’s shocked to find out a basic biological fact about plants.

“Y’know, like everything else, grass has a life. Do you know that? Grass has a life,” he said. “We have a life, and grass has a life, and the grass here died about 40 years ago.”

Remember how he has the right to remain silent but not the ability? He’s let slip what he’s planning on doing to the federal district.

“It’ll look like Augusta,” he said, referring to the host of the Masters Tournament. “It’ll look like more importantly Trump National Golf Club, that’s even better.”

Washington, Donald’s Club. Fuck, he’s going warp speed from banana republic to Idi Amin’s Uganda.

Don’t count on all that many goods getting delivered on time for a while.

The Trump administration announced Thursday night that it has issued an immediate pause on the issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a post on X, “The increasing number of foreign drivers operating large tractor-trailer trucks on U.S. roads is endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers.”

Under current regulations, a foreign driver may obtain a U.S. commercial driver’s license but must have an employment authorization document.

I already mentioned the American-owned factory bombed by Russia. And how did the felon respond?

If another country were to bomb an American-owned factory on foreign soil, one might expect—at the very least—harsh condemnation from the sitting U.S. president.

The anticipated response from a president who enjoys a reputation as both a champion of American business and a tough guy on the world stage would be even fiercer.

But President Donald Trump fell far short of such expectations on Friday, when he was asked about Russia’s strike on the Ukrainian branch of the American electronics manufacturer Flex.

Are you ready?

“I told [Putin], ‘I’m not happy about it,’”

*Triumvirate? Ménage à trois?

How it started/how it’s going.

Y’all remember Kilmar Abrego Garcia? Yeah, he’s going to be sent to not just another country, but an entirely different landmass.

The Trump administration may try to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, according to a senior Department of Homeland Security official and a notice sent by government officials obtained by CBS News.

Hours after Abrego Garcia — who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador earlier this year — was released from pre-trial detention in Tennessee on Friday, his attorneys were sent a court-required notice of his potential deportation to Uganda, the official said.

The notice said he may be deported to the East African country “no earlier than 72 hours from now,” not including weekends.

Earlier in the week, CBS News was first to report that Uganda had agreed to a U.S. request to accept deportees who are not its citizens, becoming the latest “third country” to strike a deportation agreement with the second Trump administration.

This, mind you, while an order of protection prohibiting his deportation is in place. Do not tell me the felon, or any other republican for that matter, cares a whit about law.

I’ve already discussed why I find the felony charges against him to not be credible.

Another court tells the felon he can’t block funding to cities he doesn’t like.

A judge ruled late Friday the Trump administration cannot deny funding to Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and 30 other cities and counties because of policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration efforts.

U.S. District Judge William Orrick in San Francisco extended a preliminary injunction blocking the administration from cutting off or conditioning the use of federal funds for so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions. His earlier order protected more than a dozen other cities and counties, including San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.
