Y’all remember that bullshit toy soldier Hegseth and the felon blathered at the North Korea Quantico generals and admirals meeting? Don’t forget they want this country to be a military dictatorship. Their stated version of how they want the military to operate is also how they want everything to operate.
And you just know that’s generated a bit of a reaction.
Here are two top notch xits quoted in the article.
Maybe put a bucket of KFC on the brand new White House patio and play some reggae. If he starts he comes out the back door doing that desktop Santa dance, we’ll know.
Great question @puzzlegal . I’ve been throwing my hands up quite a bit at some of the most recent developments. But you just made me realize a question I should have been asking.
Correct me if I’m wrong, and I mean that please do, but I seem to recall one of the arguments made during and after the election last year was that even if SCOTUS declared some flavor of legal immunity for Trump regarding Official Acts those lower on the totem pole could still be held accountable for illegal actions. Where is the accountability for subordinates carrying out illegal acts and violation of court orders for example? Have we just not reached that point yet?
It hasn’t reached SCOTUS-level yet but when it does I fully expect six of the justices to use more tortured logic to okay it, something on the order of since the President can do no wrong, anyone carrying out His* orders are similarly protected.
If the president does have such immunity, then so do the governors who, constitutionally are te chief executives of the state governments.I believe an order issued to fire on federal troops entering the state without the governor’s request is definitely within the scope of the governor’s official capacity.
I caught myself before I asked if the felon and the rest of the magaflatearthers understood that. Of course they don’t. And such a question would be the prime example that, yes, there is such a thing as a stupid question.
I’m new to hearing of Project 2025. BBC (who ya gonna call?) describes it as:
The document itself, external sets out four main policy aims: restore the family as the centrepiece of American life; dismantle the administrative state; defend the nation’s sovereignty and borders; and secure God-given individual rights to live freely.
If Trump ever said “centrepiece” he’d had been President in 1980.
I suppose “dismantling the Administrative State” is merely suggesting a new Constitution where the President is a Monarch, yet I reckon we’ve got that already. Does that need some improvements?
Dunno that Thomas Jefferson said “God Given” rights yet the USA has been all about God - the one correct God - for 60 years.
Can’t he just Executive Order all that shit at once? If there were still a SCOTUS they might someday sort it out.
I am surprised that there is not a thread dedicated to the Chicago apartment raid last Tuesday (link to Paul Krugman’s substack), but it seems nobody has heard of it. Or perhaps I’ve missed it among the cacophony of dumb evil. So I thought I’d better mention it in The Pit. Because it is good TV, which is all that matters to a certain individual:
U.S. Border Patrol agents deployed to Chicago led a late-night raid on an apartment building this week, rappelling from helicopters onto rooftops and breaking down doors in an operation authorities said targeted gang members but which swept up U.S. citizens and families.
[…]
And they arrested two suspected gang members, while also rounding up some undocumented immigrants. But they detained everyone in the building, smashed their doors, zip-tied their children, and ransacked their homes.
The next part of the article highlights Senator Duckworth’s mettle.
Let me remind you. Queegsling (yes, that was intentional) Hegseth is demanding others to meet standards he not only did not meet but fell far beneath the bar. (Yes, that was intentional, too.)
Right. That’s what those memorials and monuments to the great figures of American history are for: backdrops for a fake sport. That’s actually pretty fitting for this clusterfuck of a government.
It was frequently mentioned by liberal commentators here in the US during the election last year. At that time, Trump repeatedly disavowed any connection to P2025 when he was questioned about it, and pretended like he really wasn’t even familiar with it. But, in a completely unsurprising development, Trump then placed people involved with developing P2025 into his administration, including Vought.
I think you’ve encapsulated the entire Clusterfuck Mark I and Clusterfuck Mark II rather nicely with that. He’s completely convinced that anything he stars or starred in or even particpated in is good optics, aka good TV. Remember he was the main figure on The Apprentice and he has convinced himself that wasn’t good writing, but good reality because he’s the bestest ever boss and the cameras were just recording his awesomeness. That’s also why he thinks it’s a great idea to hold a fake sport event at the White House for God’s sake. He participated in that charade so therefore it was real and the cameras, again, were just there to record his awesomeness.
Luckily whatever the felon and his shock troops they they must have done was done on land. Otherwise they’d’ve just been straight up murdered. And that’s why I put the strikeout through wannabe in front of war criminal for Hegseth.
I didn’t click, because I’m pretty sure WSJ is paywalled for me. But here’s a quote from Maddow Blog [Opinion article; Bolding mine]:
The aforementioned Times report added, “Judge Immergut, an appointee of President Trump, called an emergency hearing Sunday, then broadened her restraining order to cover ‘the relocation, federalization or deployment of members of the National Guard of any state or the District of Columbia in the state of Oregon,’ telling Justice Department lawyers that the president was ‘in direct contravention’ of her order.”
Perhaps Trump can try sending in the Puerto Rico National Guard. That would be hilarious.
Not the first time any politician has denied before being elected his agenda.
My fear here is behind it is an ever-changing mix of essentially oligarchs. Putin’s playbook.
All of this P2025 seems to have been enacted. The SEC has been neutralized so nobody there is going to inquire about massive short-term PUT’s or CALL’s action depending on what DJT is going to announce/ban/sanction, etc…
I’ve been looking at the action myself, on securities affected by his announcements. An hour, half an hour before lots of action in just the right direction. He let’s his friends in.
And I consider you an extremely well-informed person. I wonder how many other of our fellow citizens don’t know about it.
That’s why I said in my post above that Dems should be screaming from the rooftops that trumpie has openly claimed Project 2025 as his blueprint. After denying that he had even heard of it during the election. I think this is a very big deal.
I saw that in Krugman’s substack, too. The MSM are not doing their part to keep the public informed.
“Algo habrán hecho” was also said when Franco´s Gestapo (it was called Dirección General de Seguridad, but the other name is catchier) arrested people, tortured them and then shot them. Yes, it was a direct, intentional reference. Well spotted, Sir.
