The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

They already have it engineered in Microsoft Paint.

The Law & Order President commutes the sentence of George Santos.

Russia - Alaska tunnel. $8 billion. Both Musk and Putin could fund that with pocket lint and sofa cushion change. Go ahead I say. They can keep all the profits too. I double dog dare them.

Hah! I truly wish it had been something other than just a fortuitous typo. I had to make the post on a hand-held device and thus you got a linguistic gift!

The only surprise there is that it took so long.

Amazing. This can fit Trump, too. It’s no wonder the felon pardoned this particular other felon.

And this is amusing, in sad, sad, very sad way.

No fucking kidding.

We’ve had at least one thread on a Bering link, whether bridge or tunnel, and our conclusion was that either one would suffer from the fact that the Bering Strait is not near the rail or road network on either side. So to be useful, someone would have to build two rail lines, thousands of kilometers long, ideally double tracked, through some very difficult terrain. Or highways, if that’s what they want, although those would be much less useful. So yeah, a massive boondoggle.

We’ve had no shortages of those in either of the felon’s occupation of the Oval Office. I guess it’ll start next week!

Two weeks.

Well, of course! Can’t believe I missed that.

And now I’m extremely peeved again for having to pay double for express mail to the US from China. Today, I sent one such (it’s called EMS) and, just like last time, instead of paying the previously usual 185 yuan ($26), I had to pay 325 yuan ($46) and, again just like last time, the postal clerk informed me there’s no guarantee now of the document “getting to the destination smoothly because of the tariffs”. I’m pretty sure the unilateral revoking of the de minimis exception is the issue. But, thanks, felon, for fucking over the little guy in your blind goal to pretend you knwo what the fuck you are doing.

Terrain where the permafrost is turning to tepofrost and sinkholes.

Tepofrost, not tempofrost?

Come on, frost can’t even play the drums!

How long before DonnyDumDum installs Santos in a Cabinet position? New Secretary of Defense perhaps?

What? Don’t you know he got rid of that outfit. He already has his buddy Pete in the Department of War, Mongering that is. Santos is obviously destined for either Secretary of the Treasury or Treasurer of the United States. The onlyissue with that is you know the felon doesn’t trust him.

Remember the old joke? I only trust me and you, and I’m not all that sure about you. The felon doesn’t even trust himself. That’s part of why he contradicts himself so often in the same sentence!

Nope, new cabinet-level position Department of Ethics and Accountability in Government. Tasked with making sure there is no Ethics or Accountability in Government.

Well, at least we’d finally have a qualified person in a job.

So, a tunnel to nowhere. And from nowhere.

I’m thinking head of the bureau of labor statistics. The position is open, and I am sure that Santos is the best person to fabricate economic indicators that will match Trump’s criteria for reliability.

Oh my god these people are just totally ridiculous.

During a White House press conference Friday, HuffPost asked who suggested that President Donald Trump meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Hungary to discuss the war on Ukraine.

“Your mom did,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded.

“Your mom,” added White House Communications Director Steven Cheung.

The Pentagon isn’t enough. The Press Corps needs to walk out of every single government facility. These are not serious people, and covering them is a waste of time. Trump lives and dies on his TV ratings, and we need to just shut out him and his entire crew of morons and trolls. Let him blather on to OANN in the dark.

Maureen Dowd is with you on that.

It is a truth generally acknowledged that Pete Hegseth is a muttonhead.

But I come not to bury the self-proclaimed “secretary of war,” rather to praise him.

He is going to spur some superlative Pentagon coverage. Because nothing gets a bunch of reporters going like being forced out of the building where they work and being told they aren’t allowed to do their jobs.

The Pentagon has said it will deny credentials to reporters who seek information that has not been approved for release. Hegseth already cut off access to large swaths of the Pentagon to reporters without escorts.

Journalists have walked the Pentagon’s halls since its opening in World War II. They could stake out Jim Mattis, a defense secretary in President Trump’s first term, when he picked up his clothes at an in-house dry cleaners and have an off-the-record chat as he walked back to his office, shirts slung over his shoulder. They might bump into the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at a Pentagon Starbucks and have a conversation that could turn into a story.

Hegseth, immature and unconfident, cannot accept that a free press is integral to democracy. As Thomas Jefferson put it: “Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”

Yeah, well who says Petey and Donnie WANT a democracy, hmmm? Clearly, they don’t.

It might be time for me to post my latest count of Declaration of Independence grievances Mr. Potato Head is committing. I count 19 out of 27. (I have provided why I think these grievances apply to Mr. Potato Head. Some may disagree, but this is my count.) Cases can be made for others.

1. ‘He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.’ Trump has, either personally or through his underlings, refused to assent to laws that Congress passed. For example, he torpedoed a bi-partisan Act on immigration.

2. ‘He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.’ Trump blocks states from enacting laws he doesn’t like.

7. ‘He has endeavored to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.’ Trump is proud of hating immigrants.

8. ‘He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.’ Trump has fired, and is attempting to fire, federal judges.

9. ‘He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.’ Trump owns the Supreme Court of the United States.

10. ‘He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.’ Trump established DOGE and militarised ICE to repress the People and to steal their money.

11. ‘He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.’ Trump sent troops to Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland… Without the consent of mayors and governors.

12. ‘He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.’ Trump is trying to make the U.S. military loyal to him, and not to the United States Constitution.

13. ‘He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation.’ Trump violates the United States Constitution every day. This is foreign to us.

15. ‘For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States.’ Trump is protecting his private ICE army from consequences of their crimes.

16. ‘For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world.’ Trump has certainly done that! Just ask the farmers who are unable to sell their crops because of his tariffs.

17. ‘For imposing taxes on us without our consent.’ Tariffs are taxes on consumers. The American People did not consent to the Trump Tax.

18. ‘For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Jury Trial.’ Trump has imprisoned thousands of people without due process.

19. ‘For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offenses.’ Trump is transporting people, without trial, to foreign lands. If they want justice, they must (impossibly) seek it from outside of the United States.

21. ‘For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments.’ Trump is actively trying to abolish parts of the United States Constitution, such as the 1st Amendment and the 14th Amendment, he has suggested that the 22nd Amendment does not apply to him, and the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments are pretty much nullified.

22. ‘For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.’ Trump is effectively suspending our legislature with his illegal Executive Orders.

23. ‘He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.’ Trump has declared that anyone who opposes him is a terrorist.

24. ‘He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.’ Trump is stealing millions – perhaps billions – of dollars from the American People, and keeping it for himself.

27. ‘He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions.’ Trump incited the January 6th Insurrection.

To be pedantic, Trump commuted Santos’ sentence, not pardoned. Not sure why he didn’t go all the way…
