The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

Since 2015, states that voted for Trump last year have received $31bn in assistance from Fema, with storm-prone Florida, Texas and Louisiana leading the way, compared with just $7bn for states that voted Democratic.

We’re gonna win schadenfreude so much you may even get tired of winning schadenfreudeing, and you’ll say ‘Please, please, it’s too much winning schadenfreudeing. We can’t take schadenfreude anymore.’

Last time around, Trump’s minions set up a hotline to report crimes committed by “illegal aliens”…

Pranksters flood Trump’s ‘illegal alien’ crime hotline with warnings of UFO sightings

By Wednesday evening Twitter users began to report long wait times, as the new hotline was inundated with prank callers. The reaction of an ICE official indicates that the service was significantly impacted by the action…

There was an item on our local news here tonight saying that Agent Orange had signed a memo telling the Department of the Interior to review the Lumbee Indians’ longstanding request for federal recognition of their tribe. Most of the Lumbee live in a very red area of the state, so I am sure many voted for him.

Maybe they shouldn’t hope too hard for that now?

The dumbshit is in Davos trying to tell the WEF that in the last four days, he negotiated the ceasefire in Israel, brought the Olympic games to America, ended the Ukraine war by raising the price of oil, and “got the soccer world cup”.

Fuckface von Clownstick pardons another tranche of terrorists

What? You thought Felon 47 couldn’t go any lower than having Musk running the government? Take a gander at this bit of news from Yahoo:

President Donald Trump has suggested that far-right militias such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers may have a role to play in public life.

Dare I say it? Yes. Before the month is over, there shall be at least one murder committed by one of those “patriots” Felon 47 pardoned. And, yes, the victim will be one of maga’s favorite targets.

“We’re not looking backward we’re looking forwards,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune said, according to CBS. “I’ve said this before — Biden laid forth the most massive use of the pardon power that we’ve seen in history.”

John? That’s exactly the opposite of what “not looking backward we’re looking forwards” means.

You’re expecting a Republican to use logic when he speaks? Oh, you sweet, summer child.

You dared to say it, and I fear you will be correct. There will be some bad things happening. Maybe not before the end of January, but certainly up into spring. I fear that the J6 pardonees, the Proud Boys, and the Oath Keepers will be emboldened by Trump’s pardons: “We can do whatever we damn well like, and Trump will protect us.” It ain’t gonna be pretty.

Only so much Trump can do for them: his pardons don’t apply to state-level charges/convictions.

No, it’s not. But if they’re determined to go down that path, anyone want to bring them up to speed on

How long do you think it will be before the Supreme Court rules otherwise?

And these morons are exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I’m sure most of them think they are immune to state charges too.

Depends. Is it a red state? Perhaps alarmist, but not unlikely.

The Brown shirt oath proud boys might be immune to charges, but they aren’t immune to bullets. They’ll find out right quick that this isn’t Germany 1934 when their intended victims start defending themselves.

And we have this:

House Republicans announce new subcommittee to investigate Jan. 6

Time to rewrite the past:

“House Republicans are proud of our work so far in exposing the false narratives peddled by the politically motivated January 6 Select Committee during the 117th Congress, but there is still more work to be done,” Johnson said in a statement.

One problem the Republicans will have is they have been warned against subpoenaing previous star witness Cassidy Hutchinson:

Johnson aide discouraged Hutchinson subpoena over concerns about lawmakers’ ‘sexual texts’

The move was intended in part to prevent the release of sexually explicit texts that lawmakers sent Cassidy Hutchinson.

An aide to House Speaker Mike Johnson advised Republican colleagues against subpoenaing former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson as part of their investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack in an effort to prevent the release of sexually explicit texts that lawmakers sent her, according to written correspondence reviewed by The Washington Post and a person familiar with the effort.

The aide intervened last June, citing concerns that a subpoena could expose the texts, according to the correspondence and the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly about private conversations. Johnson revived the investigation this week as part of an effort by President Donald Trump and his allies to seek retribution against perceived political enemies, including those who investigated his role in the Capitol attack.

Old male members of the Party of Family Values sexually harrassing a 20-something woman? Somehow, I am not surprised by the creepiness of that.

That’s the traditional interpretation, but we know modern conservatives have no respect for tradition when it gets in the way of their power.

The text that establishes the pardo power isn’t all that long:

" The President … shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of impeachment."

All the Supreme Court needs to do is assert that an offense against any individual State is an offence against all, and so is against the “United States”. That gives Trump power over any criminal action anywhere.

Good luck Florida and other southeast states. Only 5 months til the start of hurricane season!

Those states will be fine. They’re red!
