President Donald Trump blasted the administrations of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, along with diversity, equity and inclusivity (DEI) initiatives within the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation, while speaking about the plane crash near Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
“I changed the Obama standards from very mediocre at best to extraordinary,” Trump said at a press conference. “Only the highest aptitude. They have to be the highest intellect and psychological aptitude that were allowed to be qualified for air traffic controllers.”

Yesterday we stopped at the grocery store and we noticed while waiting in line to check out that someone had taken the copy of Time magazine with Agent Orange’s face on it and turned it around in the rack so the back cover was facing out instead. We approved.
It’s probably been pointed out elsewhere, but it seems to me that blaming DEI every time anything goes wrong is the same thing as saying that women and people of color basically can’t do the job. If there was a white guy doing the job, whatever the bad thing that happened wouldn’t have.

In a press conference on Wednesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that one of those unnecessary programmes included sending $50m worth of condoms and contraceptives to Gaza, where, for the past 15 months, Israel has waged a full-scale war and limited all aid entering the Palestinian enclave.
Leavitt said the $50m was located by the Department of Government Efficiency, a new task force created by Trump and led by billionaire Elon Musk.
“We identified and stopped $50m being sent to Gaza to buy condoms for Hamas,” Trump said on Wednesday.
“They used them as a method of making bombs. How about that?”

However, the Gaza referenced in the grant description wasn’t in the occupied Palestinian territories.
It was referring to a province in Mozambique. Gaza is a rural province in the African nation and is the country’s least populated, with an estimated population of just over one million people.

Frederick Forsyth describes one of his characters using condoms to contain part of a bomb in The Odessa File. I can’t recall any other cases of that happening. Could Trump have actually read the book? I know that’s unlikely, but the condoms in a bomb thing wasn’t shown in the movie they made out of the book.
Maybe somebody who read the book mentioned it to him on a campaign bus, or something.
The four-page undated memo by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy states the administration “shall prioritize projects and goals” that, among other things, prohibit recipients “from imposing vaccine and mask mandates” and require “local compliance or cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.”
It also would “give preference to communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average”
