Yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.

Well, rounding up millions of undesirables and moving them cross country against their will isn’t quite impossible. There’s some precedent for it. Just a little messy is all.
I think it counts as a “Always Suspected It Would Happen”, at least among those who think that one of the major reasons he never has(and never will, if he can help it) released his tax returns is because they would reveal how much he is involved with and/or in debt to governments like China and Russia.
Confused in Minnesota writes to ask “How, exactly, would his tax returns reveal where he borrowed the money from? Doesn’t it just add up how much he made, not where he made it?”
It’s also not a surprise for those of us who never thought “get tough on China” meant insulting the chairman then hanging up the phone on him.
I was thinkin’ he’d maybe send them some lead, if you know what I mean.
Roe v Wade is settled law as well. But if Trump appoints Scalia-types like he wants to, both of those are in jeopardy. At this point, our best hope is turn Ruth Bader Ginsburg into some sort of immortal cyborg.
She would be a terrific choice for our first immortal cyborg, I’ll give you that.
Awesome!
Bringing coal mining jobs back is probably not gonna happen
Awwww, the Republicans weren’t going to nationalize the coal mines and put everybody back to work at government expense after all! Darn and pshaw!
Haven’t you heard? He is now moving away from the dark side…
That was a very interesting article. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
By 2020, at least some of the old, white, poor (and getting poorer) idiots who thought “Damn! I wish I could get away with saying that!” and voted for the twit will be dead.
Do the math - Boomers are starting to turn 70.
And bunches of us smoked - some still do.
There IS hope!
Until you realize that the Boomers used to be radical progressives and that the same thing will happen to Gen X and millenials. We’re an aging country. As old people die off, even more people get old.
Exactly what percentage of Boomers do you think were “radical progressives”, adaher?
Young voters have tended to vote Democrat pretty strongly for a long time:

Humphery and McGovern did best among under-30 voters. Wonder what happened to those voters? Oh yeah, they voted for Bush, McCain, Romney, and Trump.
Nice chart; thanks for linking it.
Did you answer my question? I don’t see it anywhere in your post.
As a boomer (at the tail end anyway) who was, and still is, a progressive (perhaps even a radical one) I can tell you that many of my peers were narrow minded racist assholes even back in highschool.
A matter of definition, really. My main beef with the Clintons was always their Republican lite “Centrism”. But there are people who will look you straight in the monitor and swear she’s a radical lefty.
Well, if you say so, addy. Far be it from me to challenge someones who political acumen is the stuff of legends. One legend, at any rate.
I don’t know if this is in this thread yet, so:
My parents produced 4 kids:
M, b 1945 - college educated, a mild GOP
F, b 1947 - raving loon racist, every other -ist; really likes the expression: "Free, White, and 21!)
M, b 1949 (me) was, and continue to be as far left as commonly found in USA
F, b 1953 - college, timid but moderate-R GOP
I never reproduced. Of the5 kids, 4 are decent, may be liberal, at least in their youth. I have not heard of the 5th (asshole’s kid) in 11 years. Last heard of being a ski bum around Tahoe. He just turned 31, so he probably has a kid or 3, maybe slightly less hateful than parents (she married a real peach).
I started out in Dayton; father’s job moved to “cheap labor” and he could not find anther job.
I ended up in a small town HS of 2200 students.
That town was farm and manufacturing, about 30/70.
I looked it up on Zillow - the old factories are dead, the town is wandering around, looking for a reason to exist.
A bunch of my schoolmates were looking forward to doing like their daddies.
It has gone GOP since 1968.
