The Trump Recession

I knew as soon as I clicked “Reply” that someone would interpret it that way, I thought about editing but nah, I’m fine with my post working on many levels, like the ball in the groin.

I’m not an economist, but I think that if major foreign companies stop selling their goods to the US markets, that will have some economic slowdown effect in the U.S.?

Article is about European countries who have discovered that in addition to the tariffs on their finished products, they have to certify that the steel components that went into the manufactured good didn’t come from China.

Some finished products have thousands of steel components that could be caught by the steel tariffs.

And, a recurring theme: American importers are surprised to discover that they have to pay the tariffs, not the foreign companies.

Could it be, just maybe, that Trump was … um … lying to the American people?

And more news about the effect that Canadian retaliation boycotts are having on American liquor producers.

CNN calls them “innocent bystanders”.

If they voted for Trump, they’re not innocent. Trump is delivering exactly what he promised.

Donny Dipshit speaks (this is from his Truth Social):

Such an elequent spokesman. No finer words have been carefully typed out, proofed, and released to the world. And from henceforth, Soybeans, Farmers of Soybeans, Economically Hostile Acts, Cooking Oil and Trade are proper nouns.

Thank you for your attention to this Matter.

Why sure, what else are you going to do with a national crop of soy sitting in silos without a buyer ?… hey let’s get the rubes to eat it … hell that’s what we do with ethanol subsidies and the HFCS byproduct.

Max up the national sugar intake, supplement with unlimited patriotically cheap vege oil, then cut back on access to medical services and solve three problems at once. Make American Gigantic Again.

That raises the GDP by a lot and is very patriotic. I would expect no less from them.
Thank you for your attention to this Matterhorn™:

Ho ho ho.

The majority of U.S. consumers, 57%, said they expect the economy to weaken in the year ahead, Deloitte found, the most negative outlook since the consulting firm began tracking sentiment in 1997.

I find it really unlikely that we buy Cooking Oil from China. Mazola, for Example, is made here in the USA. Cargill and ADM are big Manufacturers with lots of Manufacturing and Processing Centers in the US.

I suppose he’s just lying or deluded or confused. Not sure why I would try to explain anything about that Doofus. Thank you for your attention to these random Capitalizations.

Someone on Bloomberg this am argued he chose cooking oil because it’s not significant to the trade relationship and so it lets him sound good to the domestic audience without actually raising the temperature.

Seems stupid, even for him – looks like we import Used Cooking Oil from China, but most other Oil comes from Elsewhere. Whatever, not sure why I’m trying to explain this particular lie by the liar in Chief.

“If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do"

-JD Vance

And by “create stories” he means “lie like a MF”

Hey JD. No need to create stories. Most of us already know that Trump is making us suffer. Remove your lips from his ass and you would know that.

You missed the cap A on “attention.” But hey, given T’s Germanic descent, capping Nouns is just being true to his Roots.

Heh. At first glance i read that phrase as “stilettos”.

Would you buy used cooking oil from this man?

While jumping through the last hoop for the credit union to send a wire transfer to my mortgage servicer, so that I can pay off our house, the woman on the other end told me about enrolling into a higher-yield (3.65% APY) saving account. No fees, no limits, no minimum balance; just continue direct deposit. She mentioned something about ‘a lot of people think a recession is coming.’ Yes. I do.

Congratulations on paying off your house! It’s a great feeling, isn’t it?

I think it is. I don’t think it will feel real until all of the documents are where they’re supposed to be. But yeah, one less expense to worry about in the coming recession.

The big pain for me is remembering to pay my property taxes. I should take out a $100 twenty year mortgage so that the bank does it for me.

Ditto. We are also going solar. Our electrical bills are going to be minimal. Always at least $7.50 a month for the rental of the extra meter we need. That should be it.

When it was being designed, I asked them to add two more solar panels - Want to be sure.

The Trumpy party’s oil interests have insured that a congress approved solar program for homes is cancelled. Because they don’t want people like you to get energy from the sun for your own home.
