My mother and her husband set up a trust that names me and my sister as sole beneficiaries and co-trustees and executors of their estate. It says so right in the will and in the Trust.
Their house isn’t paid for, and neither my sister nor I am in a position to pay the mortgage. So sis went to WAMU to access mom’s account so that we can take care of the house and prepare to sell it to a buyer we already have lined up. Nope. WAMU wants the assignation of the trustees to be in a bullet point instead of in a paragraph. What’s the bloody problem? We’re named as co-trustees, co-executors, and beneficiaries in both the will and the trust! It’s a legal document, duly signed and notarized. They say we need a ‘successor trustee form’. Christ eating peanut butter! My sister thought BofA was difficult!
I’ve LVM for the lawyer who set up the trust. I hope he calls tomorrow.
I talked to the lawyer this morning, and told him that WAMU wanted the assignations to be in bullet points instead of in paragraphs. He laughed. He said he’d never heard of such a thing.
Anyway, we need to send him a copy of the deed, the date the deed was recorded, the date the property was put into Trust, the front page of the trust, and the page where we’re appointed. (A computer crash took his copy of the trust, which was made four years ago.) He said we should send the WAMU account number for good measure.
So my sister has to go to Arizona to get mom’s husband’s death certificate and send everything to the lawyer. Then the documents have to go to San Diego for my sister’s (notarized) signature, and then up here for my (notarized) signature.
The guy who wants to buy the house is in a real hurry for some reason. My sister said that he might not be able to buy the house if it’s going to take a couple of weeks to get the paperwork settled. Whatever. He can buy it if he wants, nor not. There are other people who are looking for a house.
