This may not be news to anyone, but I just found out about this today. And I think it has more to do with the WB canning Angel than any of the spin I’ve heard thus far.
Are you trying to say that they canceled Angel so that they could make Dark Shadows? I’m sorry that just doesn’t make sense. If a show’s popular they’re more likely to put out more of the same type of show not get rid of the one they already have.
Just look at ABC, I expect them to change their name to “The Law And Order Network” any day now.
I just hope they don’t that they don’t turn Barnabas into an Angel clone.

Not so they could - but yes, I’m trying to say that I believe they canceled Angel in order to “better” promote Dark Shadows.
E! Gossip columnist Kristin said the same thing - I haven’t done any more ‘research’ than that, but there may be more people that share my supposition.
This isn’t exactly a new rumor. I heard it within a week of the cancellation’s announcement, and mentioned it in at least one of the threads on the subject.
Part of the rumor I heard is that cancelling Angel was part of a backroom deal between whoever is in charge of programming at WB and whoever is producing the Dark Shadows remake. Certainly, if the re-make has the production standards of the original, they should be able to crank out a whole season of 'em for the cost of the teaser of one episode of Angel, so there’s your motivation for killing the show right there. It’s a stupid motivation, but we are talking about television network executives here. Generally speaking, if they were any dumber, they’d have to run for government.
