The US to ban animal-human hybrids

Apparantly so, I caught the John Stewart show here in the UK (edited so I think I missed the hypnotic microphone bit I saw elsewhere) just last night. I’m quite sure Bush declared that the US government would vote against research into animal-human hybrids. Is this really an issue in the US?

as far as i know…they were talking about stem cell research. stem cell research was/is a hot button topic.

this manimal scenario has been brought into the public’s view as of the state of the union address. to be perfectly honest, very few people talked/thought about it.

like i saw in another post in another thread
(and i’m paraphrasing): don’t we combine human genes with fruit to make it more resistant to disease? if that’s being targeted as well, that’s going to mean we’re taking a step backwards.

so, really, to answer the question, no. it’s not a big issue here in the us.
frankly, we were all kinda baffled when it was brought up.
buuuuuuuuuuuuuut now, apparently, we’re all supposed to bring it to the frontest of front burners?

“Americans … Pah! I weel take my research to a deserted island first!”
