Well, she was the only victim that didn’t have a direct connection to an infected letter or area. No one knows why or how she was infected. It is a puzzling situation.
I don’t know how much weight I’d put in Marxxx’s theory, but it is interesting.
…I don’t think much of these FBI profiles. Remember Ted Kaschinsky (the crazed “Unibomber”)? His profile said that he would be a male in his 20’s (Ted was in his 50’s),working at a technology-based company (Ted K hadn’t had a job in 20 years), and had numerous other errors. So don’t put too much stock in this. However, it is possible that the dead woman was an unwitting courier (mule) for the actual culprit. This would explain her infection-she was probably transporting parcels for the perp, and got some powder into her lungs.
She wouldn’t have needed to be an unwitting “mule”. Any number of scenarios can be dreamed up. For example: One of the actual culprits may have found a way to infect her; he presumably thought she had seen something that put her in the “knows too much” catagory. Apearently, he was wrong. If she had any suspicions, she’d presumably have (a) realized, when she got sick, that it might be anthrax (as in, "ohmigod, so-and-so must really be an anthrax criminal, and now he’s infected me!), and (b) told someone about her suspicions.
As it is, she seems not to have had any idea that she had anthrax, as she did not seek help until it was too late to save her. News accounts have said that by the time she was hospitalized, she was too far gone to be able to tell the investigators anything.
The Washington Post printed a good article November 10[sup]th[/sup] that has a lot of information about Mrs. Nguyen.
Investigators seem to think that it’s most likely she was infected by coming into proximity with the perp, because of the unique circumstances of her case.
I don’t think any reasonable person could think that this nice lady had anything to do with the attacks.
