The Voice US Season 15

Agreed. And what’s with the little intros to everyone’s team except Adam’s?

I’m watching Monday night’s show right now. Here are my comments on the 24, as I watch them. Song titles are in parentheses.

Team Blake
[ul]
[li]Michael Lee - nailed it (“Every Time I Roll The Dice”)[/li][li]Dave Fenley - nailed it, but I think he should have done something uptempo (“Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground”)[/li][li]Natasia Greycloud - her vocals were very good, but she seemed stiff; I was very aware of the fact that she was choreographed (“God Is A Woman”)[/li][li]Chris Kroeze - I love this guy, but I wasn’t crazy about his song choice; I like the song, just not for him on this show (“Have You Ever Seen The Rain”)[/li][li]Funsho - great vocals, but he looked terrified most of the time! (“How Long”)[/li][li]Kirk Jay - holy crap, he was totally off key the entire time; I was not impressed (“One More Day”)[/li][/ul]
Team Kelly
[ul]
[li]Abby Cates - meh? I wanted to love her/this, but the song was too low and I couldn’t figure out why (I don’t feel like the high parts were very high); she also struggled with her pitch at times, and had some diction issues (“Next to Me”)[/li][li]Keith Paluso - I really like his voice, but this wasn’t a strong performance (“Someone Like You”)[/li][li]Sarah Grace - nailed it vocally; would have liked to see her not behind a keyboard (“When Something is Wrong With My Baby”)[/li][li]Zaxai - the dude can clearly sing, but I feel like he relies on the falsetto too much (“When I Need You”)[/li][li]Chevel Shepherd - great vocals, but she could/should have acted a little more (“Grandpa, Tell Me About The Good Old Days”)[/li][li]Kymberli Joye - oh wow, that was fun  (“Radioactive”)[/li][/ul]
Team Adam
[ul]
[li]What happened to DeAndrey and Steve??[/li][li]RADHA - nasal start; overall good vocals, but not great; still not enough emotion for me (“Dusk Til Dawn”)[/li][li]Kameron Marlowe - he did great! (“I Ain’t Livin Long Like This”)[/li][li]Tyke James - did he smoke a pack of cigarettes right before he sang?? I’m not a fan of what he did vocally there (“Use Somebody”)[/li][li]Reagan Strange - I like her, but that wasn’t a great performance (“Worth It”)[/li][/ul]
Team Jennifer
[ul]
[li]What happened to Frank and Sandyredd??[/li][li]Patrique Fortson - nailed it (“Ain’t Nobody”)[/li][li]MaKenzie Thomas - nailed it; she deserved the shoes  (“I Believe In You and Me”)[/li][li]Colton Smith - he did much better than I expected! (“Scared to Be Lonely”)[/li][li]Kennedy Holmes - nailed it (“Halo”)[/li][/ul]

Sorry if my super-long post scared everyone out of this thread…

Just three comments for this week:
[ul]
[li]I still don’t get the love for Kirk Jay. The song he did on Monday night’s show wasn’t bad – in fact, it was the first time I thought “ok, maybe he can sing” – but the gushing from Blake completely mystified me. I think Lynnea should have made the top 10 instead of him.[/li][li]Sarah Grace is very talented and I like her voice, but she seriously needs to stop making the “tragedy mask” face when she sings. It’s always too much, but especially when the lyrics aren’t sad/dramatic![/li][li]“The Rose” was awesome! What a trio. JHud, Kennedy, and MaKenzie are each amazing.[/li][/ul]

Here’s a clip of the 4 coaches singing with their team.

Jennifer only has two artists left, but they are very good.

I expect either Blake or Jennifer will have the winner. They have the strongest remaining teams this season.

I agree that the winner will come from either Blake or Jennifer’s team.

Well, we have the Top 8.

I expected both of Jennifer’s artists to make it. Either MaKenzie or Kennedy could easily win. I wasn’t as impressed this week with their choice of songs. I hope next week will be better.

Blake’s Team: Kirk Jay easily got through. I like him, but I’m not sure he’ll get much farther. I think Chris Kroeze has a better chance at the finals.

Kelly: I did not like Sarah Grace gimmicky version of Amazing Grace. I’m surprised that performance didn’t sink her chance for the Top 8. Kymberli Joye is really good. But her focus is a Church Ministry. I’m not sure The Voice will advance that career. I do enjoy listening to her gospel music. She’s got a great voice.

Adam: what can I say? He threw his own guy under the bus? If someone can’t compete in any competition it’s over. I need to watch Reagan Strange on YouTube and see why Adam thinks she’s so special.

When will Reagan recover and be able to practice for next week? She may lose a couple days rehearsal. They didn’t say what was wrong with her.

I can’t recall a season with so many kids.

Watching this group really makes me feel old. So many baby faces under 16.

They’ve always included teens in the auditions. They usually don’t get this far into the competition.

Sarah Grace 15
Reagan Strange 14
Kennedy Holmes 13

I wonder how they attend school and do this show?

Agreed. Both could have easily performed more challenging material. And everyone was so knocked out by Kennedy’s dancing, but – while I admit she gave a great performance – isn’t this a singing competition?

I did have to keep reminding myself that she’s only 13! She looks like she could be 15 or 16, but also I’m repeatedly astounded by her confidence and self-possession. Thirteen!!!

Every time Kennedy sings I think “she’s going to win,” but then I watch MaKenzie and go “hmmm…” I think I prefer MaKenzie’s voice.

I hope you’re right. I continue to be underwhelmed by Kirk Jay.

I agree with you about Sarah Grace. I still like her voice, but frankly everything else about her is wearing on me. And the trumpet thing was like Kennedy’s dancing. I feel like she’s been coached to have a persona when she sings…if we could ever just see/hear her, she might blow everyone away.

I think Kymberli Joye could also easily have performed something more challenging. She has a terrific voice, and needs to be super smart about her song choices.

OMG THAT ANNOYED THE HELL OUT OF ME. There were *so *many things wrong with what Adam did. I’m not sure I agree that if someone can’t compete one night they’re automatically out, but the message about Reagan should have been “don’t let compassion sway your vote” and they should have replayed a clip from Monday night. Adam totally made it about “sick little girl” vs “dissed team member,” not about the singing. Not to mention that Dave Fenley is a MUCH better singer than Reagan (or DeAndre, for my money). Grrr. I don’t think Chevel Shepherd should have gone through, either.

Tutors?

I haven’t been keeping up. I’ve been telling myself that I’ll take some time to binge watch, but it hasn’t happened yet. I’ve been watching a bunch of the performances on youtube, but not all the rest of it.

I dropped by the thread because I’ve been watching a lot of drama that’s happening about the DeAndre thing. Some people are hopping mad, vowing to pull support from Adam. Without having watching everything that happened before, I’m not really surprised. When Adam likes someone, he fights for them, even if he has to throw someone under the bus.

I remember Adam picking James Wolpert on a bad performance because Adam felt James had more potential. I don’t even remember who was on the other side.

I’m a little surprised at DeAndre’s reaction online. I read that he badmouthed Adam back. I watched an interview with DeAndre where he claimed that he loved everyone, but he deflected any question about Adam. Maybe I’ll feel differently after I see the entire thing, but at the moment, it feels a little ungrateful. Adam doesn’t owe DeAndre anything. Adam could have cut him long ago. Everyone knows that shows like this aren’t fair. They’re entertainment. It wouldn’t seem like DeAndre is doing his career any favors by leaving with a sour grapes attitude all around.

Hmm. It looks like that show will be very interesting. I do get the maddening part as an audience member. I’m still not over Christina Aguilera cutting Jesse Campbell.

I haven’t seen any of that – except for this thread, I pretty much only watch the show – but honestly depending on what he said, Adam may have deserved it. It’s true that Adam doesn’t owe DeAndre anything, but when Carson asks Adam for his opinion on DeAndre’s (pretty good) performance and Adam’s entire response is to tell people to vote for the sick little girl? And he spends so much time telling people to vote for someone else that Kelly can’t give DeAndre *her *feedback? Dick move, IMO.

If you ever get bored, there’s a subReddit on The Voice. They have a simulation competition and some pretty neat people there.

This is the article I saw. ‘The Voice’s’ DeAndre Nico Responds to Adam Levine’s Dis: ‘He Sold Me Out’

Adam probably deserved it. I was thinking about DeAndre’s reputation though. He may have been justified to say it, but he’s just getting his career off the ground. Maybe negative controversy can help it, but I’m not so sure.

shrugs I don’t see anything all that negative in his comments; certainly nothing reputation-harming. All he said is that he doesn’t respect what Adam did, and I can’t imagine a single person who watched the show disagreeing with him.

(I’m not a Reddit person. Yet, anyway.)

Well, the final four have been selected.

This week Kennedy has done really well. She seems so polished and at ease performing. I noticed during the Instant Save that she was several steps better than Reagan. MaKenzie did a nice job, but I thought Kennedy won it.

Same thing Monday night. I watched the Kennedy/Reagan duet a couple times on YouTube. Kennedy is at a different level. Reagan will get there with more training & experience. She has a lot of potential.

Overall I have no complaints. I would have liked seeing Kymberli Joye have a shot in the Instant Save. But she’s had a really good run on the show.

I’m curious to see how Blake’s two artists, Kirk and Chris do in the final. Hard to predict how the popular vote will go. They are very solid, all round singers. The right song in the final might do the trick.

I’m still a little undecided about Chevel. She really hasn’t grabbed my attention this season. I need to watch her performances again on YouTube. Refresh my memory. Off hand I can’t think of any performance that jumps out.

I think it will come down to Kennedy or Chris for the win.

Kennedy should win this season. She came out with a 4 chair turn for Adele’s Turning Tables and gotten even better every week.

Jennifer Hudson has done a great job coaching Kennedy.

I’m a little worried that she had to fight for her place in the final. I thought Kennedy had the public’s support. But, there’s no predicting how they’ll vote.

MaKenzie and Kymberli are both *much *better singers than Chevel (who is a one-trick-pony, voice-wise, and a super stiff performer). America sucks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course Kennedy had to win that Instant Save. I agree, I think she should/will win and I was also surprised to see her in the bottom…except it made me wonder if things were rigged somehow, to make the Instant Save an obvious decision. This is the first week where they didn’t show the Twitter tallies before announcing who got saved.

It (mildly) bugs me that they keep running out of time at the very end of the show. This week the credits started rolling before they even made the “save” announcement. I know it’s a live show with live performances and timing can be tricky, but there has to be a way for them to stay on top of things…it’s not like it’s the first season or something! I have a feeling that sometimes the judges talk for too long, but there is/should be a way to curb that, too. They just need an extra, like, 3-5 minutes each show.

I’m glad the finale is next week. The thing with Adam turned me off the show, but I’m invested enough to want to see what happens. I can hang in there for one more week.

Yes, it’s time to wrap it up and announce a winner.

I’m sure the artists must be exhausted. Learning new material every week is tough. Especially when you’re being judged by millions of viewers.

John Legend replaces Jennifer next season. I’m a fan and am looking forward to seeing him.

Otherwise, the cast is the same.

I hope Alicia Keys eventually comes back. She’s my all time favorite coach.

I’m just stunned. She won?

I apparently don’t have a clue who the public loves.
Kennedy 4th, Kirk 3rd, Chris 2nd, Chevel won.

I think Kirk and Chris will see big changes in their careers. They won’t be gigging in run down bars any time soon. They’ll play in larger venues for better $$$$.
They need to bring Tom Waits in for a judge. Turn this effing show on it’s head.

I REALLY loved seeing the Doobie Brothers. I didn’t know the **band is still performing. Long Train Running is their best song and Chris had a thrill of a lifetime performing with them.

**They’ve had a lot of different members come & go throughout the years.

Kirk did a nice job singing Back to Life with Rascall Flatts.

Kennedy sang When Love Takes Over with Kelly Rowland. Chevel sang Speechless with Dan + Shay.

This is a wonderful reward for the artists hard work & reaching the final 4. It doesn’t get much better for artists than singing with the musicians that inspired them.

I’m with ya. In fact, I wasn’t only stunned; I was also kind of…disgusted (if that’s the right word). I actually said “bullshit!” out loud to the dog when the winner was announced. She shouldn’t have even made it to the final four, IMO.

I skipped almost all of this week’s performances. I watched all of Kennedy’s and one of Chris’s, plus for some reason I watched Panic! at the Disco, but I fast-forwarded through everything else. I figured nothing I heard this week would change my opinion of everyone; I just wanted to know who won.

Meh.

But you know I’ll watch again next season.
