But still, the zombies were moving rather slowly.
Somehow I missed this, but apparently the reason Shane shaved:
Episode recap
That and it represents a fundamental change in Shane. I think we may see him become even more mercenary to the point of danger for everyone.
Also, I hope the farm is able to start making and using ethanol for fuel. Overall oil consumption may be waaaaaay down, but oil production is even lower.
I can’t wait until a zombie Otis comes back to the farm, they shoot him and during burial notice a 9mm hole in his leg, perform another dissection and confront Shane.
Me, too.
Yeah, but at least no one is
Running around screaming WAAAAAAALT!
I agree this was the best one so far, except maybe the 1st one. Still, they need to end the arc about the little girl, one way or another.
Anyd I’m more convinced than ever that Daryl and Blonde Chick are going to hook up.
I won’t go as far as to say Shane is evil, but he is mercenary, and not in a good way.
Given the time elapsed (weeks if not months), even if the farm has a generator, where are they getting fuel? The only way it makes sense is if they have windmills or hydro generators (and they haven’t shown a river or anything). How hard is it to make ethanol, and even if you can, would one be able to use it as a replacement for gas in a generator?
This episode finally gave proof to what’s been hinted at and speculated on: that everyone eventually turns to a zombie. Daryl and Andrea come across a guy who decides to kill himself rather than be turned. So he hangs himself, and dies, and comes back again. Surprised Daryl didn’t make the connection but I suppose the writers needed a way of showing proof without having a big neon sign flashing that this was an important development so it had to go uncommented on.
Dude that hung himself was bitten - left a nice little poem -
Got bit
World has turned to shit
blah blah
called it quits.
So, no reason to connect that.
Ah, I didn’t catch the first part of the poem, and I thought the biting on his legs occurred as he was hanging there. Low hanging fruit or something.
I agree that the hanging dude should have been shot. That’s one less walker to possibly come for you if the rope breaks. And yeah, his legs got eaten after he hanged himself. I wonder how long one has to be dead before the walkers will take you off the menu.
Otis didn’t seem too excited about “sacrificing” himself as Shane was prying and beating the backpack out of his clutches.
I just got into this show this weekend (caught up on S1 and previous episodes on Netflix & iTunes) and I have really liked it so far. This episode really shows the “small story” human struggles that have really come through in what I’ve seen so far; but I am also really struggling with the stupidity of the overall arc. After the whole CDC/Atlanta debacle I have to wonder why they would take a chance at heading inland more? I know they’re heading to Ft. Benning, but I never caught a good reason for that.
Additionally, it seems that it would make a heck of a lot more sense to head towards a barrier island - given that they’re in Georgia, there’s more than a few within a few hours in either direction - and create a safe haven guarded by water rather than heading for a more population dense area. They’ve already seen military equipment be pretty ineffectual against the herds.
Probably the assumption that any surviving remnants of the military would have retreated there. (Remember, Rick spotted a helicopter earlier.) Also, possibly the opportunity to obtain weapons.
I like your island idea, but not a barrier island. Too few water resources, and too great a risk of being wiped out by a storm. Maybe an island on Lake Lanier would be a better option.
Personally, though, if I were in their shoes, I would head for the top of Stone Mountain. Can’t imagine zombies making the hike to the top without good incentive. You have good sight lines on the bare rock at the top. You can actually drive all the way up, so you could make scavenging runs from there. And there is a lake, with fish, at the bottom.
Got bit
Fever hit
World gone to shit
Might as well quit
I wouldn’t want to go find a island to live on. To what end? Maybe the group could live out their lives in safety, but just die off one by one eventually? Living on fish they’d have to catch?? I would hate to be the last survivor of that group. And what if the women got pregnant, gave birth? Those kids would grow up feral, and again, to what end? I’d rather take my chances on the road and hope to hook up with a community of other humans that be marooned on an island.
Please someone spoiler me: what’s in that barn?
I’ve been rereading the comics and it is less than 2 hours
The Governor tries to feed his daughter 2 hour old ‘meat’ and she won’t accept it
Not everything in the comics is in the show, and I assume that applies to that sort of thing as well.
At least, that was what Kirkman said.
There have already been massive changes to the story and I like it, because then I have no idea what to expect.
I loved this episode and what Shane did was bad, but it is definitely turning to “save our own, save others if we can”, much as it does in the comics later on.
Spoiler requested above-
In the comic, the farm folks could not bring themselves to put down their zombified family and friends, so they keep them chained up in the barn. They think they have it under control, but it is a ticking Zombie time bomb
In the comics, the barn is full of many walkers, friends, family and such. Herschel wants to save them and try to cure them later on, which was hinted at in one of the last episodes in a discussion with Rick.
