The Walking Dead; 2.10 "18 Miles Out" (open spoilers)

Well, I’m a man and I’d be more than happy to do the cooking while the women fight the zombies.

I don’t think they made it about the guns. That is just something that was mentioned here that could give the story away, but didn’t seem to on the show. I think dale was suspicious of shane for his actions in season one, and even more so as he acted strange after otis’ death, and he prodded more and more until shane more or less confessed.

I think you’re a little too hung up on the guns. Once you see someone point a rifle at someone, that’s PLENTY of reason to be suspicious of them, and to start filling in motivations that aren’t readily apparent.

Maybe so. I’m not happy with the way things played out, but whatever. If I hadn’t loved season one so much, I wouldn’t care. It’s like I’m that kid in the new relationship with his longtime crush and I’m figuring out my crush is an annoying idiot. 'Why won’t you be the way I hoped you would be."

You’ll recall, that when I first made my complaint it was just that–Dale figured Shane killed Otis with nothing but a dumb suspicion. I said the writers should have had Shane trip up. I was told they did just that with the guns. That’s why I’ve focussed on the guns. If we all agree that the guns don’t explain it, then we’re right back where we started. Dale figured Shane killed Otis with nothing but a dumb suspicion. I think that’s lazy.

I wouldn’t exactly call it a dumb suspicion. I’d say it’s more of an educated guess. You have to remember, Dale witnessed Shane almost kill Rick in the woods during Season 1, so he is already uneasy about Shane. In fact, it can be argued that if Dale wasn’t there, Rick would be as good as dead.

So Dale knows that Shane is capable of killing a friend, especially to serve his own needs. (e.g. to get his insta-family back in Lori and the kid.) So, it’s not too much of a stretch for Dale to think Shane probably killed Otis to serve his own needs again.

As a woman, I’m kind of thinking the same thing. I don’t want anyone telling me I HAVE to do the cooking, but I think I’d prefer cooking and laundry to zombie killing.

Not just someone, but his supposed best friend. There really isn’t a good reason for anyone doing that on purpose.

No it couldn’t. I rewatched the scene, recently. Shane pulls up before he ever notices Dale, then makes a comment about them needing to wear orange vests. Dale did nothing to save Rick or stop Shane from shooting Rick. Shane stopped Shane from shooting Rick. This is indisputable. Additonally, in that instance, Shane had a motive that was clear to Dale (kill Rick so he could have Lori). If we were all asking how Dale knew Shane killed Rick, this would be a lot more relevant.

He continued to track Rick in his sights. Without Dale there, there’s a possibility Shane would have reaimed. With Dale there, Shane never had the opportunity. Seriously - there’s far too much nitpicking going on. We don’t need to be force fed every single bit of information on this show. I know it’s an SDMB habit and obsession to insist on complete and total exposition, but this show is close enough for government work.

Entertainment Weekly caught a huge mistake by AMC on their website. AMC accidentally put a spoiler in the pre-sale ad for the DVD! And it’s HUGE!

Don’t click on the link if you don’t want to read the spoiler!!!

That sucks. :frowning:

I’m thinking someone over at AMC is going to be applying for unemployment next week, lol.

The AMC merchandise site isn’t loading now. Completely offline.

Well, I’m glad I got that spoiler, it will help make sure I actually get around to watching the show promptly instead of letting it languish until I’ve got nothing else on the DVR.

You’re goddamn right

I used to get pissed when a show would end with a charcter in a tight spot and the previews for the next episode would show the character in what was obviously a new scene. That pales in comparison

Could someone please spoiler-post what the bombshell is? I can only access the net on my phone & all I see when I click the link is a screenshot I can’t zoom in on. If there is something in the text, I can’t even read it.

It mentions that the DVD set includes “Shane’s last episode”.

That spoiler doesn’t really come as a surprise - it’s touched upon in the following article about the casting of the Governor for next season:

Can’t wait for next season then - things should really heat up!

Thanks Munch.

Kinda expected that situation to work out that way eventually. Still just about the best show on TV right now. (Can you tell I only have basic cable?)

That’s exactly right.
