What a fun tv show. Especially that Anne. My friend in England says that they have the show there with an Anne too.
Are they just trying to duplicate this show in the US or do they film it there in the UK?

I dunno about its production methods, but I was coerced into watching a whole episode, and it’s terrible!
As though there aren’t enough whiners or enough verbal abusers in real life, without spending my leisure time gobbling up this negative drivel.

Anniz watched this last night, in between segments of Once and Again. This show is more of a ripoff of WWTBAM? than I imagined. Yes, Anne Robinson is the anti-Regis, but, somehow, that’s not as good a thing as I thought.
As with WWTBAM?, the questions are too easy, too.
I think this show is really lame. The questions are too easy and the dipwads they have for contestants are morons who can’t even figure out how to play the game! It’s pathetic. And I personally am not a real big fan of the “Quiz Show Bitch” (to quote another doper, tho’ I can’t remember who…)
It’s a stupid game show with the added bonus of verbally abusing the contestants. Plus I think that voting someone off every two minutes is just an excuse to add more commercials.
I kind of like it, myself. Yes, the questions are easy, but the answers have to come fast. Much faster than in WWTBAM.
Additionally, there are no, “Well, Regis, I remember years ago…” kind of stories to slow the show down. There are no “Final answer?” chances from the host, nor are there any phone-a-friends, fifty-fiftys, or poll-the-audience gimmicks. Just fast trivia that I find myself playing along with at home.
I don’t mind Anne Robinson as host. Yes, she can be a little short with the contestants and their answers, but it’s a refreshing change from the Regis-is-your-pal attitude of WWTBAM. Anne Robinson is a cold, neutral (when she is asking the questions) quizmaster who doesn’t want to buddy up to the contestants. Nice change.
There are only two things I’m not very keen on. The first is the scoring system–this idea of “banking” money and chaining questions and such. I don’t think the contestants really get it, much less a good portion of the audience.
The second concerns the interviews with the contestants after they are voted off. Some contestants are not very convincing, IMHO; I get the feeling somebody is coaching them to sound angry and resentful. Not a one seems to be a good sport. Get rid of the interviews; they serve no useful purpose in determining the outcome of the game, and remind me too much of the vindictiveness and grievances of Survivor.
That was an appalling round. You didn’t even manage to bank these. How utterly disappointing. Goodbye.
