The web is public domain? Thanks for the info, Cooks Source magazine!

No need to give that away for free. So you did, basically, an assignment for them? Yeah, gotta charge for that.

Some of them are funny. If I had the energy, I’d contribute something like:

Cook’s Source’s dingo ate my baby, after stuffing him with green peppers and cooking him at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

I’m going to post that. After all, it’s in the public domain, so it’s as good as mine!

And it would serve me right, too!

My favorite is “Cooks Source cooks horse!”

I’d love to be a fly on the wall there when the cease and desists and lawsuit summons start being served.

Hmm… Would you serve a red wine or white with a subpoena?

I’m thinking red. Sangria. Blood wine.

Be sure to charge him for the privilege of having you post it for him!

That is damn funny and I wish I’d thought of it.

Of course, I can just tell everyone I did…

Ah, the old Daily Mail defence. They got caught lifting the work of a policeman. :smack:

Reading about this debacle makes me want to make a nice Schadenfreude Pie and enjoy a slice of it while reading the comments… but I’d be worried they might steal Scalzi’s recipe.

Is there anything Scalzi and/or his daughter can’t do?

Before you do, make it read as if it’s Old English and charge him for the ‘editing’.

From that new page…

Apparently their grasp of copyright law is matched only by their grasp of libel law!

She’s got yet another page on Facebook, under “I Love to Cook.” She’s getting testy now.

Wow, I’d have already cashed out all accounts and moved to a small island. Maybe somewhere in the Caribbean, or, farther away, like near Fiji. Far away from the folks who are about to swoop in and drain your soul.

Story hits another continent-- article in the Sydney Morning Herald http://www.smh.com.au/technology/blogs/the-geek/the-cook-and-the-thieves-a-win-for-internet-ip/20101108-17jmf.html

In one of the better, and more colorful, desciptions of the brouhaha, SMH’s John Birmingham writes,

I just can’t stop watching. What a lovely trainwreck.

That page is more than half 9/11 glurge. I mean, if we NEVER FORGET then how can we possibly NEVER FORGET to leave her alone and stop hacking her Facebook? NOUN VERB 9/11! Also, leaving snarky comments on her wall is hacking.

But the commentators (hackers) still have some barbs:

She’s also exhibiting classic signs of being whacked-out on the Internet. This is called ‘lurkers support me in email’:

No names, just the implication that if we doubt her we’re Very Bad People. And hackers, possibly on steroids. NEVER FORGET!

This just doesn’t stop being funny. I almost feel a little sad for her, but I have a hard time coming up with significant empathy for someone who clearly refuses to meet reality face to face.

I sincerely doubt any of the new pages are legit.
