I watched this episode and a promo for E.R. After the promo I realized how sorry I am that this show is leaving and ER is still here.
I loved how they handled the final scene between Vinick and Santos. Vinick looked honorable and intelligent. Santos came off as a bit of a defensive jerk. Since the show’s ending I hope they let Vinick win. I completely agree that Alda should at least be up for an Emmy. He remains one of my favorite actors.
I have a feeling — and this is pure speculation without a shred of evidence — that they had originally intended for Alda to be the next president. Sort of a “this is how a Republican administration should work” kind of vibe. Might even motivate the majority of Republicans, who doubtless cringe every time the looney right opens its mouth, to rise up and take the party. I say this because I don’t think Smits can carry a show on his shoulders. He just isn’t good enough, and doesn’t have the broad appeal. Then, it became apparent that the series would end, and so it no longer mattered who won. I think that the focus now is upon tidying up everything for Bartlett. So Santos will win.
The way the broken hand story was going, I couldn’t believe that he got through his nearly three-hour press conference about the nuclear plant, the whole time gesturing with his left hand and letting his right arm hang lifeless by his side, without a single reporter asking “so Senator Vinick- is there a problem with your right hand?” I could have sworn that’s where they were heading. After 3 hours of nuclear energy, I’d think the reporters would be getting bored, start missing the message, and looking at him thinking- hm, what seems strange about him… he hasn’t moved his right arm in hours… I think I’ll ask him about it when he comes up for air…
Bruno is a hired gun - in the end, he’ll do what Vinick wants. He’ll try to sway that decision towards what he thinks is best, but he won’t go against Vinick’s directions. And Vinick stated that he would not run a dirty campaign. This would be a dirty tatctic.
As for photocopying everything in there and getting it back to Santos before he even realized it was gone, that would be illegal. Just hanging on to it for a day, and making arrangements to have it personally handed back to Santos falls into the grey area between right and wrong. Sure, Vinick could have insisted that, when Bruno first told him about it, to call in the
Agreed … but the tattoos were distracting as hell (and not in a good way): I have an upper arm tattoo myself, and I kept thinking that if it were me in public as part of a presidential campaign I’d damn well wear at least short sleeves!
I saw one on one arm, and at least two on the other. Upper arm. The kind of location where they’re only visible if she’s wearing a tank top or sleeveless shirt, which she was. I have no idea how many she has in total, and I couldn’t tell what they were of.
Surely I can’t have been the only one who noticed…?
