The Wind (2018), is a western-horror which is centered on a lady going through isolation on a new settlement. The movie is set in the 1800s and is a great story that presents the lives of farmers who moved into 160 acres of land, all alone to build their lives. The supernatural elements keep the interest levels pretty high and the non-linear story telling makes it most exciting. What did you guys think about the film.
I was referring to the 2018 movie. I haven’t seen the one from the 20s but I believe the 2018 one is not a remake. However it is centered on the same theme.
I haven’t heard of the 2018 one. (I’ve watched the silent 1928 movie on TCM a couple of times, and that one is just mesmerizing.) I must give the newer one a try. Though it’s not a remake, there isn’t much being released lately I have much interest in and it sounds like it could be good, thx.
Other than she’s crazy and maybe dying from the wound in her abdomen (which may be adding some fever to the crazy), I don’t know what else to theorize. I don’t think there are any supernatural elements in this film.
Which is fine. I enjoyed it.
ETA:
I like films where it doesn’t really matter if the villain is supernatural or it’s all just inside their heads. Witch, It Comes at Night, Hereditary and so forth. I particularly like it when the setting itself, ought to terrify any thinking observer. Again, Witch comes to mind. I knew it was going to end badly when I saw them kneeling at the edge of the forest. I mean, are you people crazy? If you’re lucky an Indian raiding party will kill you off before the winter and spare you the horror to come from the isolation and bare subsistence farming that is more likely than not to lead to your death from hunger and malnutrition.
