Just one question though involving Stinger Bell’s death.
Omar armed with a shotgun and Brother Mizoune armed with his Walther PPK corner Stringer in front of a few floor to ceiling plate glass windows. I believe Mizoune is up a few steps on a flight of stairs.
They both open fire at the same time with multiple shots. However, the windows are untouched. No shattered glass, no cracks, no blood splatter???
I thought maybe the shots were angled in a way that they missed the glass but String was right in front of them.
Hard to believe this was an oversight by the director/producers. Any explanation?
(I think you can find the clip on youtube but I can’t access from work)
The backlighting provides for some dramatic shots, and it looks to be an actual building they were filming in (as opposed to a sound stage), with potentially people and traffic below. They’d probably have had to block off traffic and then spent a fair amount of money on cleanup and glass replacement. The window shattering would also have been a distraction, allowing noise and wind into a scene which otherwise ends rather serenely.
That said, I’m skeptical that so many bullets could be flying around, firing from the hip as they were, without something either going all the way through Stringer or going around him.
Agree it was a stylistic choice not to have the added distraction of the glass shattering. Before I clicked on the video I remembered it taking it place in a building under renovation and I thought maybe the windows didn’t have glass on them, but obviously they did.
Besides, Omar and Brother Mouzone never miss when they’re trying.
Even from a short barreled shotgun the individual pellets will remain in a tight pattern at short range, gradually spreading out as they go. There are a variety of shotgun loads, it’s possible (but not likely) that Omar was using slugs which are essentially a single, very large diameter bullet. Even a slug would be unlikely to go all the way through if it hit solid bone. Smaller pellets, less so.
Mouzone’s .380 would not be likely to penetrate completely through a human torso.
It was stated a couple of times during the the show’s run, including IIRC the one immediately post Stringer-shooting, that Omar’s preferred load for his shotguns was “pumpkin balls” aka slugs.
