The Wizard Vanishes: Mako dead at 72...

Damn, I loved that guy.

Of course, most of us know him as a film performer. Indeed, I never pass up an opportunity to watch *the Sand Pebbles * so I can catch him and Steve McQueen in what I call the “live stim, dead stim” scene.

But he also starred in the Broadway musical Pacific Overtures, one of my all-time favorite shows.

“In the middle of the world we float, in the middle of the sea…”

One of the guys on the Tucker board worked with him on the film, I’ll just quote what he said

Kinda says something when the guy has a bit part in the film, and spends his off time talking with one of the technical experts (and the guy I’m quoting knows waaaaaaaay more about Tuckers than I do). Wonder how many “big name” stars would be willing to do the same?

Definitely. I don’t think I would know who he was if it weren’t for “Pacific Overtures”, one of my favorite musicals ever.
