The World's Largest Swimming Pool

Is there any point to it being so big? And so deep? There’s only so deep a human can swim, right?

Yes, however, that limit is deeper than this pool.

I stumbled across a news article a few years ago about free diving; trying to set a record for depth without any air tanks. I was thinking 40 to 50 feet, maybe. Nope, the record is more than 300 feet. Less if fins are prohibited, but still deeper than this pool.

People can swim that deep?! Wow. I’ve never really tried to swim deep at all, actually. I’m always freaked out about what will happen if I can’t get back up.

Yeah, do a web search on “free diving”. It’s one of those things, and humans have found many of them, that looks insane to the people who don’t do it.

That area of Chile is analogous to the California coast, so no, it probably never freezes there.

What blew my mind was this from the article:

:eek::eek::eek:

One BILLION POUNDS? That’s about as much as an entire Las Vegas resort might cost, and this is just for the pool (to say nothing of the hotel or the rest of the resort). Wow!

A ferry service to the beach would be easier.
