The Worst For Prince Andrew

It looks like royal staff are enjoying Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s fall from grace.

Not much there there -

Sources suggest that on his first visit to Windsor after being stripped of his titles, Andrew was not saluted by the guards and no bows were offered.

The column even suggests some staff have “relished calling him Mr Mountbatten Windsor, instead of Your Royal Highness”.

IMHO, it may seem insignificant but for someone used to being treated as extra-special his whole life, it may be something to lose those little things.

Yeah, really. As now just Mr. Mountbatten-W, he’s not expected to be offered either. The guards were probably explicitly instructed to that effect.

What’s that saying about when you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression?

From royalty to (sorta rich) commoner is a much farther fall than from generic white working class dude 40 years ago to generic white working class dude at the height of the woke era. And those generic white working class dudes are ripping down our country over it.

Just imagine how much worse the Andrew formerly known as Prince feels.

Poor baby.

It’s exactly the kind of minor petty issue that will constantly bug him. Even Wallis Simpson was able to pretend to be an HRH in private, to say nothing of being Her Grace in public. Andrew doesn’t even get to be Lord Andrew despite being the younger son of a duke.

If it even happened. “Sources suggest” doesn’t really mean anything.

And the likes of the Express are, shall we say, highly suggestible.

This is a nitpick, but nobody would ever be addressed as “Lord Andrew”. The “Lord” style doesn’t go with the first name (as “Sir” does) but rather with the title of the peerage, which may or may not correspond to the title holder’s last name. Outside the royal family, the younger son of a Duke would use the Duke’s third-highest title as a courtesy title (the highest title is for the holder himself, the second-highest for the heir apparent).

The younger son of a duke or marquess would.

The younger sons of a duke or marquess have the courtesy style of “Lord” before their forename and surname.

No, that would be the heir apparent’s eldest son.

The new batch of Epstein file releases have more documents about his relationship with Prince Andrew.

In 2019, the former prince gave a disastrous interview to the Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis in which he tried to claim he distanced himself from Epstein after his 2008 conviction for abusing a 14-year-old girl in Florida. However, the files suggest the pair remained close. In September 2010, emails between Epstein and “The Duke” – believed to be Mountbatten-Windsor as the then Duke of York – show Epstein requested “private time” on a planned visit to London. Mountbatten-Windsor appears to have responded: “We could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and lots of privacy.”

And Epstein tried to be helpful to Prince Andrew meeting women:

The documents also suggest that, the previous month, Epstein had offered to arrange for Mountbatten-Windsor to have dinner with a “clever, beautiful and trustworthy” Russian woman, who was 26. Mountbatten-Windsor apparently responded that he would be “delighted” to see the woman. He also asked Epstein if it was “good to be free” from house arrest.

Political reaction:

There’s also apparently some email exchange where someone named “A” asks Maxwell about arranging companionship for a trip to Peru. (and complains about things since getting out of the Navy). The email originated from a royal residence in Scotland. “A” asks about the availability of “inappropriate” companions and Maxell replies they could only get “appropriate” ones.

One wonders if this sort of information earlier made its way to British intelligence services - and hence the palace - since Charles came down extra hard on Andrew a year ago.

That’s all such a sleazy matter, they obviously even had code words for illegal sexual activities, or rather, rape of minors. I’m a bit throwing up in my mouth right now.

There’s this too:

I presume as people work their way through 3 million pages and assorted photos and videos, we’ll learn more.

Yeah he is stripped of all military rank too, so neither a prince or duke or honorary officer.

Colloquially in a lot of UK discussion places, he’s just ‘Nonce Andrew’ now.

Andrew was arrested this morning. Not for sexual offences but for passing information on to Epstein while he (Andrew) was a British trade envoy (i.e., held a public office).

Police statement:

"As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.“

From The Guardian

Wow.

And the cherry on top is that today is also his birthday.

Ok, insider business dealing, now that’s more like what one expects of proper European royals. /s :winking_face_with_tongue:

Still part of the Jeffrey scheme, though. Bet a bunch of other such situations will come out of the files…
