theoretical fleas

for awhile my three dogs had theoretical fleas after one developed tapeworm and I was told it was likely they had fleas. so I searched for them on each dog, deliberately, with a flea comb and more randomly whenever Sammie snuggled next to me or Fritz rolled over to Present Tummy for scritching.

but Bunny was at the vet yesterday and when they took her in back for a blood draw Actual Fleas were spotted.

now, I don’t look any more. I bought the flea medicine and I plan to vacuum and wash and, in general, fight the good fight - but I no longer search the dogs.

and, yes, I realize the real problem is that the fleas are in the bedding an the couch and the carpet. :frowning:

now that it’s real, I don’t want to actually Meet The Fleas.

It’s difficult to prove a negative. On our three dogs I use a flea preventative every three weeks year round.

our new med is only once a month.

Four weeks is the most you can expect products like Advantix and Frontline to work. Because our dogs swim a lot and I’d rather they always be flea free, we reapply every 3 weeks (with veterinary approval).
