This link takes you to an article and a video about the lunatic in Panama City who invaded a school board meeting and then held the people there hostage at gunpoint. Here is a link to another video shot from a different perspective.
Had I been there, I would have shit myself and/or have been pleading, sobbing for him to let us go.
On the other hand, one Ginger Littleton, despite having earlier been released by the gunman and his threat of terror, chose to come back and try to, single-handedly, disarm him. She failed but, thankfully, still escaped with her life. Her heroism is beyond words and is there for all to see in the first video.
The men being held hostage were also heroes. Instead of pleading or begging or crying for mercy, they tried to talk with the gunman and get him to stand down. Even as he was about to be shot, school supt. Bill Husfelt, would only say, ever so calmly, “please don’t”. No panic. No screaming.
Yeah, I’m impressed with her bravery but damn, that was idiotic. She didn’t even try to tackle him, just hit his arm with her purse. She had to know that wouldn’t have worked.
But like the OP said, good on them all for not crying and begging for their lives. If one has to be shot at least go out with their heads held high. Glad nobody (who mattered) got hurt.
oh good, I’m glad other people feel this way too. I commend her on the thought of her actions - but I’m less than impressed in the way she decided to carry them out. Grab a chair or a fire extinguisher and crack him over the head with it - it’ll be more effective than swinging a purse at a guy who looks to be 300 lbs.
Yeah, her bravery is admirable, but her judgment was yeesh. As soon as I saw her tiptoeing up behind her holding the strap of her purse, I said out loud “oh please, please do not do that,” because it was crystal clear that she was about to hit him with all the force of a dropped throw pillow. Very brave, but she’s lucky it didn’t get her killed. Trying to disarm a crazed gunman isn’t the sort of manuever you can halfway commit to.
