In the last few months our section of 95 (from Scudders Falls Bridge to where 295 begins making the south arc after Route 1) has been relabelled to 295 South and North.*
So now we take "“South I-295” to Lawrence, Princeton, et al, and “North I-295” toward the Delaware and Bucks County. Admittedly, “my” part of 95 is the most northerly point, at the Route 31intersection, and both directions of 95 drop(ped) southerly from there.
These new directional designations violate my inner compass visualizations – Philly is supposed to be south, points beyond Trenton that meander somewhat toward NYC are north. It seems that east and west would have been more accurate and less confusing designations.
My driving brain is now confuzzled.
*I’ve finally dropped my So Cal/ Western States habit of appending “the” to interstate names. Goodbye, beloved definite article.
