The Nintendo universe is being lovingly skewered as a live-action film noir with There Will Be Brawl. According to their website, it is a non-profit web series. It is also being aired at The Escapist (the home of Zero Punctuation). Both of those links are SFW but the videos themselves are NSFW (mostly violence and some swearing, no nudity).

They’ve just released Episode Five, but to get you started here is the URL to Episode One:

I’ve been watching since they’ve appeared at the Escapist and have been enjoying the show. The plot meanders, but it allows the protagonist to encounter A LOT of Nintendo characters. It is something that I look forward to every month.

I’ll wait until some of you have seen it before I comment characters and plot points. Enjoy!

I liked it. The whole dark and gritty take on the Mario Bros has been done before, but once they started bringing in other Brawl characters it got interesting. I particularly liked their take on the Star Fox characters and King Dedede. What they did with Kirby was interesting…in a horrifying sort of way.
