There's a glitch with the shoes

With shoes my size, going store to store looking for shoes is tedious and frustrating. I walk into stores and the clerks run. I had one clerk see me walk in, look me up and down and go, “Nah man, we ain’t got nothing for you.” And so you’ll understand what I mean when I say I’m overjoyed to find shoes that fit.

Now I’m not much of a clubber, I’ve been maybe twice in my life and decided that it wasn’t my sort of thing. But a pair of female friends want me to go with them to a concert in April and it’s at eleven50 here in Atlanta - a very dressy/stylish/no-t-shirt kind of place. And so I’m budgeting for the necessary upgrades in personal attire and so I had budgeted $125 for shoes figuring it a reasonable cost for good dress shoes which fit. Normally I cheat using my boots, polishing them and relying on long pant length to hide the truth.

So surfing the sites I begin marking shoes I like but decided it’d be easier for comparison to just throw them in cart. So I find a pair of loafers I really like and put them in the cart. They’re marked $80-ish dollars so I’m quite happy with that. I keep looking and then I go into the cart to compare what I have and I notice the price of the cart is awfully low. With 2 pairs of shows in there the cost is just over $120, so I look closer and discover that the loafers were magically marked down to $29.99, a 65% discount. I don’t know why, I don’t know if it’s Amazon’s way of encouraging vigilant shoppers or a gift from some admin who saw my cart, or what. But I dropped the other shoes like a bad habit and dove for the check out to take advantage of this before it went away.

I nervously checked out expecting a red X screen to come up and ban me from their site for trying to abuse a glitch or something but no such thing happened, I finished checking out and got my confirmation email. So now I checked Amazon to again see if there was some explanation for the sharp drop in price - nope. Nothing. I put the same pair of shoes in my shopping cart to see if the price drops - nope not that either.

So about an hour ago I actually got an email that the shoes had shipped! So it’s done, they can’t back out on me now! Ha ha! Victory is mine!

Oh and if you want to see the shoes, check out: http://elfurl.com/visit.php?id=179j

They’re snazzy.

They do that to me at Victoria’s Secret.

Congratulations on the shoe victory. They are snazzy. And taking advantage of the Corporate Machine is what Everyday Americans live for. Shout your triumph from the highest mountains and take a victory lap in your new shoes.

I suspect if I walked into Victoria Secret they’d say it to me too

And yeah, I’m stoked about the shoes. I should get them by Friday I’d guess, maybe Monday. I didn’t pay for extra shipping but living in Atlanta I tend to see quicker delivery.

Great shoes! So what size do you wear?

I just went to your link and added it to my cart and they were $54.95…still not too bad, but now that I saw what you paid, I’ll never buy them at this price…

15 regulars usually, 14 wide sometimes.

So indeed I guess it’s some sort of promotional deal / psychology experiment. The shoes have shipped and are currently winging their way from Kentucky. So I wait eagerly to style the new shoes

I have exactly the opposite problem, I wear a 6 1/2 in mens. Nearly impossible to find, if I’m lucky I’ll find a 7 that I can get away with wearing. I feel your pain and congrats on the triumph.

You got nothin. MY dad, who’s 5’3, wears a 5 1/2 EEE shoe. Needless to say, he wears tennis shoes most of the time.

Have you tried shopping in the REI kayak isle?

Not yet, but I tend to refer to my shoes as canoes. My work boots are actually 14s but they’re as big as hell
