Hey Tucker-
I am still really curious about this thread. (Not enough
to do at work, I guess…)
If you find out anything interesting or definitive
anytime soon, remember to post it!
Thanks
Tucker, call the non-emergency police number during the day and ask to speak to a detective. Then say, “I know this sounds crazy, but…” and tell them what you’ve seen. Whether they think it’s anything to be concerned about, at least then they’ll know about it. You could even chuckle and say something like, “I don’t want to get anyone in trouble here,” just so you don’t sound like a snoopy neighbor. I would be pissed if I thought there were drugs over there and I didn’t do something about it.
Okay, the one car that I thought was back stayed a couple of days and then left, and now it looks like one of the SUV’s that was here before is back again. (Not sure, don’t remember the color, just the make and model.)
Can’t see it as being a home-based pawnshop as its rare to see anyone come or go from the place. Though I will agree with mmmiiikkkeee, that if there is something illegal going on, those guys are probably not the ones doing the leg work.
The other morning when I was leaving for work, I saw one of the guys sitting out front with a big cooler, so it looks like those in the “organ harvesting camp” might be on to something!
The guys definately aren’t mechanics. The times I’ve seen them, there’s been no grease anywhere on them, nor have they popped the hood on any of the cars or stood outside talking about them.
I am also not going to call the cops about anything unless they demonstrate behavior which puts my life or my property in danger! I’ve known lots of cops, and they’ve all told me about folks they’ve been ordered not to arrest! If these guys are into something illegal and have bought off the cops, then there’s a good chance all my phone call would do is tip them off to me! They haven’t hurt me or my property, and so far as I can tell, are doing nothing illegal (unless odd behavior is illegal, in which case, I’ll be moving to another country).
I hope nobody minds if I re-open this thread and ask Tucker for an update…
I don’t mind.
I STILL wonder about this thread!
It sounds to me like the neighbor works at a car dealership. And possibly drives the limo as a sideline.
Then again, it’s possible that they are evil, evil people anyway.
It is possible to be a used car salesman and also evil, after all.
I stilll think its the organ hervesting camp.
And my neighbors are still crazy.
So the O.P. had dissapeared now too huh? hmmmmm?
BTW, I am guessing Repo Men
You haven’t said a lot about the people coming and going; is it the same people using different cars or different people all the time?
My guesses in no particular order:
[ul][li]Pornographers[/li][li]Christians visiting their pastor (or something - are there any bumper stickers?)[/li][li]Used car dealers (or some connection with that trade)[/li][li]Purveyors of rare and exotic Christian Car Porn.[/li][/ul]
Mangetout, I’d hardly call Christian Car Porn rare. Pull yourself from under that rock sometime, man.
Brothel seems to me to be possible. Or maybe it is some sort of time share.
Tuckerfan should keep a diary on the cars to see if there are any repeats.
I’m going nuts here!!! What happened, Tuckerfan? Have pity on us poor busybody Dopers.
 Well, of course, everybody knows that, but exotic Christian Car Porn is definitely under-the-counter material.
Fools! Anyone can see, these guys are smuggling old tires. The cars are just a distraction.
I believe Tuckerfan was replaced by a replicant from the pod people next door.
Oh yeah:
I’m going to e-mail him. His profile shows he’s been online; he’s probably just not reading IMHO.
We Must Know!
He just started a thread a few doors down. And there’s an old limousine parked out front. Different posters, never the same one, have been replying. Definitely something fishy here.
[sub]Obviously I took too much from the Bourne Identity[/sub]
It’s still happening, though the limo disappeared shortly after 9/11! Occasionally a car will stay longer than a day or two, but not too often. I’ve talked to the guy who lives there, briefly a time or two, but the topic of what he does for a living never came up and I’m not going to be the one to raise the question about where the cars come from! (The times I’ve spoken to him, he didn’t strike me as being particularly bright, if you know what I mean.) Still have no idea what could be going on.
Maybe he just can’t remember which car is his, so brings a different one home every night.
