Okay, this thing is driving me crazy. I’m not sure if my Heatpump is nuts or if the Thermostat itself is nuts. My problem is that the fan on my system runs even when I turn the switch on my thermostat to “Off”. Every now and then, the system will actually comply and the fan will turn off, but mostly, it just runs and runs.
Right now, the system is set to “Cool”. Yesterday, it was warm enough that the AC was actually kicking in. The fan cycled on and off like it should. But when the temperature dropped during the night. The system deciced that the fan should run all the time. Even when I slide the switch from “Cool” to “Off”. There is a separate switch for the fan, but it’s always on “Auto”. Setting it to “On” doesn’t help.
Is my problem…
a) A faulty thermostat? It’s simple enough to replace it.
b) A retarded Heat Pump? I’d have to get a Pro in to look at that.
c) Faulty wiring from the Heat Pump to the Thermostat? I could check that, I guess.
d) It’s working normally and I just don’t understand how these things work?
If anyone has some insight, I’d be thankful. I feel like I’m pissing away money during all this nice weather when the system isn’t needed at all.
Specs:
