Thick as a Brick

I had one of those moments this morning. You know, where suddenly, a light bulb went on? (and no republican comments please).

Snookie & I were chatting, and he mentioned some tavern type place. Now, I’ve seen signs for such places, and noted the name. But apparently never mentally said it aloud, cause when he did, it suddenly hit me.

Dew Drop Inn **sounds just like ** Do drop in.

So, did ya hear the sound of my jaw dropping or not?

no, really. Snookie then mentioned his own ‘duh’ moment, when he finally realized that “Bavarian Bush” wasn’t really some tribe of people in Europe.

How 'bout you?

Oh dear… I wouldn’t confess this in public if I were you…

And your wise men don’t know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

Wise words indeed. Ian Anderson rocks.

When I finally realized that the popular Beatles tune “Take the back right turn” was really “Paperback Writer”

Until I was in college, I thought “imbetween” was a word. No high school teacher every corrected me because they thought my n looked like an m.

Also, and I realized this one just last year, I thought the “g” in “argument” was pronounced like a “y” (aryument).

I had that exact same jaw-dropping revelation about 25 years ago. I was watching The Waltons at the time.

There’s a tavern near me called The Office. I haven’t been there, but thought, “What a great name for the henpecked!”

“Honey, I’ll be at The Office late tonight.”

Wouldn’t be a lie, would it?

… so if you’re going to mock me, do it in another thread. :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay. So for about two years, I was watching wrestling, and was a big fan of The Undertaker. Who was accompanied by Paul Bearer.

And it took two years for the association to sink in.

I’ve had a few of those “DUH!” moments…
