I swear, the Boston Globe is a goldmine of SDMB-worthy news this morning.
Thieves broke into a store in Concord, N.H. and stole 10 Segways.

I find it significant that they drove them off in a truck. God knows, if they tried to drive off the Segways by riding them, they’d still be at it.
Not to mention that they’d stand out like a sore thumb. Which brings up a point raised in the article:

Don’t they require keys to operate?
If so, can they be hot-wired?

Why?
That vast echoing question remains.
Why?
Because they are expensive. Sit on them for a few months and sell them on ebay.
But you can’t sit on them! They’re Segways – they got no seats!
Forgive me. It’s early and I couldn’t help myself.
My first impression was: “How can thieves steal radio spots?”
Then I realized that segue, while pronounced the same, is not the same as segway.
It’s going to be a looooong day sigh
I wonder if someone took them for a very elaborate magic tric-, er, illusion.
My Brother in Law is a segway dealer. The same thing happened to him a few months ago.
