Thing you just can't seem to find on the internet

There used to be a kind of mint that I absolutely can’t find anywhere. You’d usually find one or two, shaped like a wreath or a bell in a box of Christmas chocolates. They were exactly the consistency of maple sugar candy, but, well, …minty.

Used to be able to buy them by the pound, but they don’t seem to exist anymore. :frowning:

I found a trick is to do a goggle image search until I hit what I want. For instance, here is “rainbow hat”:
https://www.google.com/search?q=rainbow+hat&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=_s1HT_fNFumMiALExoDbDQ&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CC8Q_AUoAQ&biw=1208&bih=967

I used it just the other day when a friend called about a gold spiral thing she saw a woman wearing around her ponytail.

Another trick is keep rewording your query until you get some useful hits.

The trick here is to click on the wundermap and select the temperature station you want. There even have one from an off-shore buoy. I use it with my google weather to give me readings from a weather station about a quarter mile from my house.

There’s actually an Airfix kit of the Tardis, with figs of the Doctor and Martha. The Tardis is about nine inches high. I’ve got one, and it’s actually pretty nice, and doesn’t seem to be hard to assemble. You might look into it.

About 18 years ago, in the nascent pre-Internet years, my flatmate was really into computers much more than me, and would find all sorts of interesting files on things like BBS’s and cover-discs on magazines. One of those things was a really impressive animation of a bee being chased by a wasp, photoreal CG animated insects on a live action background (Sort of like Minuscule, only better).

I cannot find any mention of that animation anywhere online, which surprises me greatly, because not only is it an early form of CG animation of significant quality, but it’s the kind of thing that would have done well on YouTube.

On a semi-related note, I once found a fun little maze game for the PC on a cover-disc in the mid 90s that I can’t find hide nor hair of either.

I saw an animated song called “I got a warm reception in LA” at an animation festival in 1990 or so. Catchy tune. Been trying to track it down for years - never could.

So just before posting here to complain about it’s absence, I thought I’d give it a last try. And I found it!

So I guess that means the Internet is now finally perfect.

Try wunderground.com They have individual sites throughout the Chicago area, not just the airports. Hope this helps you

Butter mints? Common at weddings and the like?

If so, you can definitely still buy them by the pound, if you are crazy enough to like mint.

I spent a long time one day trying to find out how long the escalator at the Rosslyn Metro station is. I found several suggestions that it’s one of the longest escalators in the western hemisphere, but no details on just how long it is. I would have thought lists of long escalators would be easy to find.

The whereabouts of several people with whom I went to college. I thought everybody was searchable these days, but even browsing public records I can’t find any mention of them at all.

The recipe for chicken enchilada casserole served by the now defunct Lone Donut cafe in Minneapolis. That stuff made my Wednesdays.

Maybe you could email them?

http://saegreifinn.is/?page_id=1333

I have no idea if they could read an English email, or if they’d be willing to give out the recipe, or if they even have it in digital form, but it might be worth a try. Just rave about the soup and talk about how you’ll probably never get to Iceland again and ask if they could please send you the recipe.

Easy peasy. It’s not even the longest in DC, it’s the 5th longest.

Did you tryUncle Phaedrus?

It seemed like less of a political jab and more based on the guy’s username (so it’s related to politics, but it’s not actually a jab towards either potential candidate). I thought it was pretty damn funny.

Maybe, …but I don’t think so. It really is hard to tell, but those appear to be more chocolate-like in consistency. Close, but the ones I’m [crazily] looking for aren’t buttery at all and look more like this.

I can’t find a live stream of the Oscars. In the UK it’s only being shown on TV on SkyMovies, but they’re not streaming it on their on-demand service, and I am a subscriber to that channel. JustinTV was streaming it, but it got cut off by Sky a few minutes ago. That’d be fair enough, but even their own paying customers can’t access it! Bastards.

French Creams. Vermont Country Store usually has them, or you can also get them direct from their source, HERE.

Rashoman was remade as a western starring no less than Paul Newman, Edward G. Robinson and William Shatner!

I haven’t seen the remake, but this might be what you are looking for.

The Outrage

As for me, I really wished I* didn’t *find Transexual Midget Dog-F#$%@rs while surfin’ the Net. Its out there, trust me. Not that I looked. Really!

Pictures of a car.

I have pictures of every car I’ve ever owned. Maybe not the actual car, but found on the internet and look very much like the car I’ve owned.

Except one.

A 1979 Subaru FE. Very limited edition vehicle. I’ve found GLs, DXs, wagons, BRATs, but no FEs.
