The singer…whether its a voiceover or as actually seen on screen does NOT get an Oscar. I thought that the writers and the singer shared it.
Madonna has sung TWO songs onscreen that won the Oscar. Crazy.
To me the words “Best Original Song” imply that it’s for the writer/composer. In the same way that the director or lead actor does not win for “Best Original Screenplay”
I’m just trying to get Donna Summer, Berlin and Billy Crystal-John Goodman Oscars.
And i totally get it but a screenplay encompasses the entire film. If “My Heart Will Go On” is gonna win (ugh) then Celine should get a little shiny man statue too.
