Things I'm Certain Of But Cannot Prove

I believe there are a number of American politicians and their wealthy supporters who have been compromised by either Russia or China.

I feel strongly that Type 1 diabetes would be cured by now if not for the same reason.

One of the lessons learned from 9/11 was that it couldn’t be shot down. The military was not at a sufficient level of readiness to respond to an unanticipated attack that quickly. Fighter planes were scrambled, but there wasn’t time to load missiles on them, and so their orders were literally to collide with the hijacked plane, if it got too close to its target.

Not by the people who brought it out, it wouldn’t be. But the very term “cure for cancer” shows a certain level of ignorance. Cancer isn’t a disease. It’s thousands of different diseases. Some of them can be cured, reliably. Some can be cured sometimes, if you’re lucky. Some of them can’t be cured but can be treated so effectively that it almost doesn’t matter. Some can be almost entirely prevented. And some are death sentences. And every year, a few move from one of the worse categories to one of the better categories.

That one’s known to be true. Much of the UFO mania was deliberately spread by the Air Force, for instance, to mask actual secret projects, like Project Mogul and stealth jets.

Here’s one of mine: Bitcoin was actually invented by the FBI, NSA, or some other government agency, to make it easier to track illicit transactions.

I’ll second this. I just watched a video showing the military was hard pressed to get fighters to protect Air Force 1 as they moved President Bush around the country.

That there is a group called the Committee which finds out what certain consumers like so they can stop making it.

There’s intriguing research into why elephants didn’t get cancer. (They should. They have kits of cells and live a long time.) There are some transcription errors a cell needs to make to become cancerous. One of those is nearly impossible in elephants because they have 40 copies of the gene%20of%20TP53.) that needs to be damaged. So, we might be able to generically engineer a human who was almost immune to cancer. And maybe they’d be perfectly normal in every other way.

But that’s not something that can be done to already-living people. And basically, i agree with @Chronos . There’s tons of money for the inventory of a cure for cancer.

I believe explicit promises were made to Hillary Clinton by the Party Leadership to comvince her to stay during the Lewinsky scandal. I believe the senatorship in NY was the result of those promises

I also think shes a highly capable statesperson and I don’t really have any problem with it, except my perpetual disappointment that the party basically decided sexually predatory behavior towards young adults on the workplace is an acceptable price to pay. I do like the timeline where Hillary called out the Democratic Party for throwing Lewinsky under the bus when they knew damn well what Bill was.

Diet culture is one of the major drivers of obesity.

There’s an underlying, unified reality that most of us are unaware of in our everyday lives. I’ve seen glimpses of it in meditation. It’s hard to explain, but in this worldview, the self drops away entirely. I guess I would say we are pure experiencing, we just don’t know it. This is the closest thing I have to a tenet of faith.

Misogynists just want to be loved.

That’s how it was done in the old days, but today it’s Anger Management sessions. Lawsuitaphobia

I’m certain that our universe is inside a black hole, and what preceded the Big Bang was the collapse of a star.

I’m certain that there are tens of millions of planets with sentient life, besides our own, in our own galaxy.

I’m certain that President James Buchanan was gay.

I’m certain that Presidential candidate Ralph Nader was asexual.

I’m certain that Trump had orgies when visiting Moscow, and I’m certain that Putin has “joked” with him about the recordings of those events.

I’m certain that Michael Jordan’s father’s murder, and Jordan’s brief retirement from basketball, both were related to his gambling habit.

I’m certain that other mammals have thoughts, feelings and opinions.

I’m certain that there is no afterlife

Yeah that’s one theory I could never understand. Why put out a false narrative that made the military look worse instead of better? It would have sucked for the pilot that had to do it but what was worse was people realizing that after the end of the Cold War there wasn’t any protection available in the event of a sudden attack.

I have trouble believing that outright cures for deadly diseases exist but are suppressed because I’ve met a lot of people who are involved in pharmaceutical research. My ex was pretty high up the research chain of a large pharmaceutical company. I met a lot of the researchers. Many had very personal reasons why they were researching a particular disease. They didn’t want other families to go through what they went through. That was particularly true when she was working on AIDS research.

I wonder if there are cures for cancer and other diseases that drug companies know about but the companies don’t make because they have known side effects that would get them sued.

Which does lead in to a lot of ethical questions whether or not patients should be allowed to try treatments that are effective for their conditions even if there is an extreme risk of adverse affects.

Current cancer treatments don’t already have lots of adverse affects? A lot of treatments currently amount to “take poison, and hope it’s slightly more poisonous to the cancer than to the rest of you”. Like curing syphilis with arsenic.

I’m certain that the Riemann Hypothesis is true, but I can’t prove it.

I’m also certain that P ≠ NP, but I can’t prove that either.

“Things I’m certain of but cannot prove?”

That I have value and my life has meaning?

Thank you Terrence Howard!

it use to be pretty common knowledge that the 5th or 6th race each day was for the track people. They kept it pretty tightly guarded secret as they needed that to survive.

One of these things is not like the other.

But is he still asexual?

I believe that there is some person or persons who use social media to persuade unbalanced people to go on mass shooting sprees.

I believe trump gave putin a list of intelligence operatives during that secret meeting between the two of them, and that putin had many of them killed.
