Things the Dope has made you notice

No – not grouping them in. Bostin, Minnesota and New York/Jersey all have distinctly different-sounding accents to me. Minnesotan doesn’t sound a thing like Bostonian to me. This is typified for me when comparing, say, Frances McDormand in Fargo or Edie McClurg in – well, pretty much everything – and John Ratzenberger in Cheers, the two most stereotypical examples of each accent I can think of.

Fatty here, and I hadn’t heard of them until two different threads yesterday, and then I saw an ad for them in People last night. Now I have this craving…

Mangetout, I didn’t have my camera with me (and the cold would have damaged it), but there was the most beautiful work glove perched on top of a post, with the snow falling all around. And there was its mate, stranded across the parking lot. I still feel bad that I did not reunite the two. But I definitely thought of your site.
Oh, and I noticed a work boot by the highway, because of those threads about only one shoe being lost by the road.
