Things to do in or near Mulege, Mexico?

OK, so I’m about to go on a week’s vacation with the extended family (sibs, in-laws, a very young niece and nephew, one parent, miscellaneous others) to a hotel in Mulege, in Baja, Mexico. It’s on the Gulf side of Baja, about two hours north of Loreto, sort of halfway down the peninsula. Far away from the big touristy southern end of Baja.
One of my siblings picked the spot, which I know very little about. And although the purpose of the vacation is more family get-together then touristy trip, I’m wondering if any dopers have any suggestions for things to do / see / etcetera in the general area.
I know the snorkeling and diving is very good in the area (I’m not a diver but others are), there’s an old mission, and that’s about it.

So, anyone familiar with the town or area?
